I still can' wait for the day when Pc games have the visual effects of real movies! As onced mentioned, it will probably take a core 12 ocho (or similiar), at 3.0ghz and ram speeds of 3ghz or more, and graphics card with 64 pipelines;a crazy amount of pixel shaders;clock frequency of 2ghz;memory frequency of 3ghz ect......., to be able to pull off a realistic gaming experience as basically playing a movie. What do you guys think?
I can't understand why those of us who know the least, think of themselves to know the most!

I wouldn't expect much out of 65nm if I were you, it just makes it cheaper for AMD to produce chips.

AMD don't normally make much in the way of architectural changes at the same time as feature shrinks. It is the architecture changes we need, and they will come some months later (with Barcelona, or K8L as some call it).

Just the visual effects of, eg Shrek, would be nice & we are a way off of that yet.

A quick google came up with a page that said Sully in Monsters Inc has 2.3 million hairs. Gulp!

So do you mean that it would take more horse power than a Core 12 Ocho and a 3ghz, 64 pipeline video card in sli or crossfire to produce a realistic gaming experience?

Yes, I just read a thread speculating the ATI R600 will have it. So I guess we may be needing pipelines of 320 or more with a crazy amount of bandwith. Who would have thought? Since technology is moving so fast and we are still far off from realistic gaming, who is able to predict what it will take to accomplish that type of experience?

Though it does say this at the bottom of the page....

    DirectX 9 & 10 comparison
The above article depicts images and information which has been verified to be fake. This is not an accurate comparison between DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 as some of the images were not rendered, in fact, purely painted concept art.
anyhow i guess it does give us an iddea of how graphics next year will look like
