nVidia dx10 cards are out this month, and ATI in January.

I think it is futile speccing a system now as january is two months away and new components will be out, particularly kentsfield and dx10 cards, in which are expecting a quantum leap in performance. Bare in mind that flight simulator X is supposed to be very performance hungry and will require a fair investment to get the most out of it. Of course, this might also depend on what monitor you are carrying over, so a 1280x1024 set-up wont require as much grunt as a high end system. But wait until january; the lower-end kentsfields should be out then, not to mention the inevitable price cuts for conroe; and you should have a fair choice of new mobos and dx10 cards, though the nVidia 8800GTS is looking pretty good right now.

    Some good setups there.

I'd go for the DS4 / E6300 combo with 2Gb of value RAM.

    Cheers

Surely i would better than just value ram?
2gb would be fine, but i would want to be able to upgrade in a year or so to 4 gigs when price has dropped.
still undecided on which graphics to go for.
the computer will mainly be for flight simulator 10.

    Thanks.

Unless you're overclocking, value ram is great

    oook.
im not really interested in overclocking,

still undecided on which bits to buy!
everybody seems to give different ideas....
    my idea...

the 2x x1950's seem a good idea for graphics.
2 gig of value ram. possibly 4 gigs ... or value.
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, Socket 775, 2.4 GHz, 1066MHz FSB,
    250 gig hdd.
    dvd rw of some type.

what motherboard should i get? i want to be able to have 4 gigs of ram... depending on the price of ram.

    seem ok to people?

get one with 4 slots (most atx boards) then you can get 2gb for now and another 2gb at a later date
