    Strange USB Issue

I have an Asus P4G8X Deluxe and Windows XP Service pack 2, yet some devices are saying "they can perform faster if connected to a USB2 port" but ALL my ports are USB2?

I have installed the latest Intel Chipset drivers and my device manager shows me:

    3x Intel 8280 1db/dbm Universal Host Controller (24c2, 24c4, 24c7)
    1x Intel 8280 1db/dbm USB2 Enhanced Host Controller (24cd)

I have tried updating the 3 USB1.1 controllers to USB2 drivers but it doesnt make any differemce, any advice?

    1. How old is the motherboard?

My Asus A7V33 was supposed to have USB2 but the ports wouldn't work at all. I did some research and other people couldn't get the USB2 to function as USB2.

    2. Is there a setting in the BIOS to switch?

    3. Finally, I ended up getting a USB2 PCI card from Scan and this seems to work well. If you go for this option, make sure it's got an NEC chipset as these are better than VIA chipset ones.

Thanks for the comments, the board was purchased in Jan 03 (I think). Will have to check the BIOS settings out.

I am not too worried about getting an external card as I am looking to replace the system soon (see how long I can hold off for!)
