It might be worth going for the full reinstalation yet then......
Sounds like the repair helped, but it didn't work any mirricles :/

Nice one Lexeus. The winXP repair option really is rather good, however for your comp to work with the new mobo, it must have realised this and not used the existing mobo drivers. Normally if you use the repair option you will keep all your existing drivers, program installs and setings (but loose SP1 and windows patches - possibly including media player and DX9?)
Also, what has been stated above about always having to reinstall the OS after a mobo change isnt always true. Often you can get away with uninstalling the existing gfx, mobo and all other hardware drivers before turning the old board off for the last time.
I was getting this problem before . As soon as I pwoered the computer up i was getting these beeps, and i have continued to get the same ones, i didnt have the LED panel plugged in at first, so i wasn't sure what it meant, but now . Im gonna have another meed around with the sticks, and see if it will work in a different combination or something. Apart from the error, there is no real problem with it. Do you think its possible that Bios Speed settings for the RAm could affect it ?Originally posted by acidrainy

oh and Trickle, the only thing different i can see is, its removed my custom logon screen , and a few programs that were installed on my second hard drive, which wasnt detected until i installed the SATA drivers, need windows installer running for them. Apart form that, WMP9 is fine, and i cant see anything wrong with DX, but i think maybe you are right about having to install the updates again, but no problem on ADSL
still appreciate any advice, thx alot everyone

If you were getting this before it sounds like it may be a mobo/bios prob...
You got the latest BIOS on the thing ?
Could be worth looking into that if you dont...
the beeps/lights dont always tell the truth Ive not had any problems yet with my MSI board (the same as yours) but i had that problem with the beeps with my old mobo
i't turned out to be a faulty board - i thought it was the RAm so i went and got some more...but it didnt solve the prob..waste of cash \Anyway i would suggest trying some diff ram, or if u have multiple sticks try them separately in diff slots/combinations - dual DDR and single mode etc etc. If all else fails RMA your mobo for a new one but only if you really have to, as it can take ages for a company to sort you out (overclockers.co.uk are pretty slow, taking a full month )
Thanks for the info Spud. You could be right . But there is still some stuff pointing to the RAM though. I haven't really properaly tested sqapping the stick around yet. But sometimes the computer only detects half the RAM, i think this probably points to one the sticks being faulty.
Oh, by the way, you got your way in the end acid , i decided to reformat, it is nice to start fresh even if it means i will spend the next week installing. The only really bad thing about it is, i just realised i forgot to back up Outlook :-/ past Emai lost probably, not sure yet.
Also Spud, a few mins ago the computer hung on the Ram prob LED at start, the monitor never even come of standby ! That sounds bad to me. The problem is, it doesn't always happen when i turn it on, so its hard to tell if its passed the tet or nto when i try different combinations :-/ and its uncomfortable cramped next to the case fiddling around with it
anyway, i will keep you posted

Oh dea, i ran Memtest on the RAM all last night, 38 passes, no errors. Do you think that means the Ram is definitely fine ? and one of the sticks of ram not being detected sometimes is defintely the motherboard ? Im gonna try updating the Bios.
