Printing White

Hi all,

I'm a bit of a lurker but thought I'd give the collective minds of Hexus something to mull over the festive season.

I need a printer that can print white, specifically onto transparencies.

I've had a rummage round and found the ALPS range of printers could do this, but their no longer making them. So, does anybody have any suggestions? I mean really, anything will be considered at this point.

Doubt it as any solid colour will just project black - 'white' is produced by not printing anything.

I've asked my graphic design pal, and apparently he thinks you'd have to set up a spot litho plate - i.e. set up a print run with spot colours.

They're not for OHP's, they're actually for modelling.

I need to do it on a clear transparency as the clear bit is the bit I use to attach and it needs multiple colours, white being one.

In this respect, all the colours actually need to be opaque, thereby making most printers invalid.

As for spot printing, don't really do enough for that, and at the same time I do do enough to qualify for a printer that can/could do white.

How about speaking to a couple of local repro houses or printers?

they might know of a system that will let you produce low quantities of what you are after. Actually, digital litho printing might be able to do this. Per sheet it is going to be expensive compared to regular printing.
