750gb bootup problem

Just purchased the seagate harddrive but i seem to have problems booting up with it installed.

Basically, during bootup, the computer just stays on the hard drive initialisation screen and does not pick it up i think.

If i unplug it and reboot, and when windows is loading up, i plug the sata cable back in, windows recognises it and it functions like normal.

My motherboard is Abit Max3 s948 and has the latest bios on it.

Any ideas ?

does the drive have a SATA 1 compatability jumper? (mother SATA 2 drives do)
