Got a bit of money; what to upgrade next??

    hey all

Im currently running a Shuttle ST20G5 which ive had for a few months and id like to spend a bit of money improving its performance, I use it mainly for uni work (i.e. lots of documents/pdf's/powe******* open at the same time), downloading, playing movies and occasionally games. It can be a bit slow at times when im multi-tasking!

If i were to spend, say £100 on improving it, what do you reckon should i do? I was thinking either cpu or ram upgrade.

    Heres my specs:

    Shuttle ST20G5
    160gb Maxtor SATA
MSI geforce 7600GS 512mb (should be arriving tomorrow)
    AMd athlon 64 3000+ S939
512mb Kingston DDR non eec pc3200 ram
    dvd-rw
    pinnacle 60e freeview card
    19" tft monitor
    Logitech cordless desktop Mx
    Acoustic aego 2.1 speaker system

You would see a more noticable preformance boost if you brought 1GB - 1.5GB of Ram

For £100 you can easily pick up 1.5GB as long as you are not to bothered brands and overclocking preformance.

yeah i thought so; only have 2 slots for ram though, so i was thinking of buying this as its the same as the ram i currently have in; so il have 1.5gb on two chips. Would that be alright or would the cpu need upgrading as well (to avoid any bottlenecking in performance)

Bottleneck is the RAM, I have the same CPU and am still happy with it.

You can really feel the upgrade from 0.5GB to 1GB.
