It was on nForcershq, while some say that just uninstalling the drivers work fine, others say that DriverCleaner from driver heaven is required to get rid of them and the mods recommending a complete windows reinstallation.Originally posted by Agent
Where did you read that ?
Thats crazyness, no hardware maker would make drivers that require a new installation of windows.
While i agree that you should uninstall the old ones, then install the new ones, reinstalling windows just to update your drivers is barmy !
Likeon http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/view...=asc&start=120"If you have used *ANY* mobo specific drivers then you will need to clean install your system to ensure maximum compatibility with the NV dirvers"
Andon the main page here http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/view...=asc&start=0If"If you have used audio drivers not provided by NVIDIA, you'll apparently want to either stick with them, or have a screwed up setup. Tweaks specific in those drivers will leave files/entries around that will likely screw up your audio when you upgrade.
Please try using a clean setup on the next pack before you complain about it."
Im just fussy and like to have things running nice and cleanOriginally posted by Agent
Ive built *many* boards on the Nforce 2 chipset, and updated the drivers, and i promise you, reinstalling windows it not necessary.
I think they are just going a bit OTT
oh no, must of missed a bit of the thread......Originally posted by Agent
You totaly format everytime you upgrade your mobo drivers ?
I totaly format when i go from a pII 350 to my current setup
Is it Worth downloading these latest drivers.... they definitely don't effect the boot time.....
I did notice they did not come with the IDE accelerator.... I'm guessing thats the guilty component that causes this boot slowdown...

ok, i won't post one if you don't want me too
it stays on my hard drive unless you say otherwise
Anyway back to topic... are the latest drivers worth it?
Do they make a difference..?
Im guessing they are for Lan, Sound etc. etc. ?
Yeah they are mainly for fixing a lot of sound issues - mainly EAX game problems. The new SW IDE driver will be released in a couple of weeks - they're still having a few 'problems' with it!Originally posted by acidrainy

Maybe it's not worth it 'cause when they bring out the new IDE driver it'll probably be packaged in a complete new UDP, probably best to wait til then.
New drivers fix my sound problems in Mafia though
I did eventually have to do a Windows reinstall with the new 2.45 drivers - not because I wanted to though!Originally posted by Agent

It was because I used the recommended DriverCleaner - it completely wrecked the installation. so much so that when I did install the ne nForce drivers and rebooted, the login screen went black and a picture never appeared.
Now I'm recommending that people stay away from DriverCleaner! Just uninstalling the drivers from control panel will surfice.
