    Prime95 Stability is my aim

    Hi all,

My system at the moment is what I consider "stable" - ehat I mean by this is it will run Prime95 (on max heat stress test etc) for 8 hours straight.
Please see my sig for my system.

But my problem is that I cannot overclock my system above 260fsb, I know I am possibly hoping for too much but I have seen people get 3.6ghz (300fsb) on air with my cpu and motherboard!

The thing I cant understand is that if I change my ratio to 5:4 from 1:1 I get errors in Prime95 (WHAT EVER FSB I USE !?!)

Does anyone have any suggestions (turn off Hyperthreading, up graphics volt, 4x agp instead of 8x etc etc).

My aim is 290fsb @5:4, this way I can use cas2 with my memory and this will give me a cpu of 3.48

Please help guys..........this is biting me !

Try slacking off the mem timings a bit and see how it goes. Tighter timings = less you are able to up the FSB (according to OCZ website)

Try upping the memory voltage as well to around 2.8v

Also, wouldnt worry about Prime95. Mine fails on a torture test (blend mode) at my current setup but seems stable enough to me after doing 5-6 hours of constant video encoding which sends CPU use to 95% and temps to 59oC and it didnt complain one bit

    My setup -

    P4C 2.6 @ 3.20
    OCZ PC3200 - 2, 3, 3, 7)

I suppose a bad encoded Divx/whatever codec block would hardly show, so not being prime95 ok is fine. However compiling in VS .net is another story. For my own peace of mind, my overclocked 2100+ has prime95 running constantly searching for primes - if it goes yellow, ill know its the pc
