Got a Mesh laptop, its about 2 years old and has had no problems. It crashed today while playing a game and when I tried to boot it up again I got an odd sequence of beeps but no boot up.

The Phoenix beep codes ( 1 - 4 - 2) suggest "parity failure first 64k RAM".

I tried swapping the two 512 memory modules around but it still would not boot and gave the same beep sequence. I thought one of the modules must be faulty but if I use either of the modules separately in the first available slot the laptop boots normally.

Can anyone tell me what "parity failure first 64k RAM" means, and as either of the modules will work separately does this mean the modules are definitely OK but I have a problem in some circuit in the laptop?

TIA
