Re: Rising Force Online Goes Free to Play

The catch usually is that it's junk .
I gave Archlord a try when Hexus mentioned that it was free, and couldn't believe that anyone actually paid for it.

Re: Rising Force Online Goes Free to Play

I bought this game when it came out, but I never played it because they were charging something ridculous. I think it was £7.99 per month exc. VAT.

I doubt I'd play it now, even if it's free.

I doubt it, unless they run out of finance to add content.

Lots of minor game devs jumped on the MMO bandwagon since it looks like such a sure-fire way to profit - no piracy, subscription income that adds up to many times the average game cost, etc. They forgot to realise that there's a big difference between being a major market-leading game like UO, Everquest or WoW and being a hanger-on derived from a dodgy Korean developer. People are prepared to grind, but only when they know there's something worthwhile at the end of the slog. There's only enough mind-share for a few big MMOs, the rest might as well not bother.

Re: Rising Force Online Goes Free to Play

LOTRO and EVE Online are by far the best MMOs I have play/played.

Re: Rising Force Online Goes Free to Play

I had a go today...still looking for an MMO which isn't click click ad nauseum. Will stick to playing NWN persistent worlds for now.
    Still, it's good for nothing.

WoW, EVE etc will never be free because they are good enough to pay for. The others are not.
