Whats your FAVOURITE plane in Aces?

Just one...only one.....no cheating you lot.

What is the plane you love the most? The one that commands the best chance of your survival AND of scoring.

The one you land everytime in?

    What is it?

I'm back with my trusty Yak 9 now......no matter how much I try to love the Spitfire, I can't.

I was THAT NEAR *holds up fingers showing a small gap* to saying the IL-2....but its not quite there...and weirdly the Yak9 hasn't given me muchos points in VEF....but ..none the less...

    YAK9

Thats too hard a question!!!! Depends on my mood and how well I am flying that particular day ... BUT....after last Thursday flying session, I think I have to say the IL2... although the Spitfire would be a close second

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

This was an interesting thing to think about and figured i'd do it in normal TiG Stylee...
So i looked at my VEF stats and did some calculations...

Its funny as the results are amusing

    In reverse order
3rd comes in I-16 with a max total of 136 points at avg 19.42857143 per mission
2nd Comes in the Yak 9 with a max total of 134 points at avg of 33.5 per mission
1st comes in the IL2 Various Flavours with a max total of 1240 points at an average of 33.51351351 points per mission

Suprisingly the Yak9 is my best aircraft for flying fighter escort/patrol in. of all 4 missions i've flown i've got back alive....

Compared to 6 missions in P39N and P40M i've been KIA all 6 times heh..

IL2 takes in in VEF by a tiniest of margins, although i doubt if i flew 37 missions in the Yak9 i could average 33.5 points per mission...

But current favourite aircraft is not the il2 any more......
But to keep the thread on track i'll not post that now

It has to be the IL2... feel dead comfortable in it.. I can use it to a certain degree of lethalness, and it takes such a pounding from flak and enemy fighters - it's truly staggering some of the heaps I've brought home and managed to land... Still, I aint as good as I could be yet, which is annoying...

For sheer ground pounding for me yes it has to be the p38L with 12 rockets. A few problems with it that i've yet to work out how to get round, the Tail fins are incredibly vunerable to cannon fire. loose either one of these and you are hitting the deck...

But with the ordinace you can fit on it and the sheer amount of ammo the machine guns have makes it superb, and the best thing about it is its stupidly fast!!. it will cruise at 75% throttle at around 420 fully laiden. Full power and no load and this thing goes 530 when trimmed properly.

IF only i could have a tail gunner too. I'd like to take the hardness of the BF110 and the tail gunner from that, add the capability of having AJ2's from the IL2 with some rockets guns and power of the engines in the p38

    you dont want MUCH then?

I have to agree with the "get me home" ness of an IL-2....

however......with my recent dog fight with Rhyno, I nearly got away in my Yak 9 and I think he was pretty shocked....he did get me finally, but the heavy breathing was quite long winded
and I stayed with him in a dive to 680 and she was all together

Ground pounding its the Il2, which, as a few people ahve noticed can be used to great effect in DF's when the Jerrys are all over you

Liking the Spit but not really been flying enuf of late to have a fave plane...

Hmm, most favourite plane? Toughy TBH. Could be any of these: -

Spit (V and IX), P39N+Q and the P40 for dogfighting.

    P38L, IL2 or 110 for mudmoving.

    Spit V

Turns like nothing else (Maybe the 109 F4 is the exception?), strong cannons and mg's, but is pretty slow and there isn't a lot of ammo. Saying that though, I did smoke 3 109 G6's in a recent VEF with one, gotta love those turnfights

    Spit IX

The ultimate n00b machine Big cannons, turns like hell, AND can be used to b'n'z - but because of this the kills don't feel as rewarding Still, its a great machine to use when you're annoyed

    P39

A Mahoosive cannon planted in place of the engine at the front of this plane Damned hard to aim with the cannon, but damned easy to get into a flat-spin Was my first favourite plane (Pre-AEP + pre-VEF) but it got kinda replaced by the Spit and others.

    P40

The ultimate early-war dogfighter IMO. Turns well, nice firepower, and was the plane that I was in when I got my first VEF fighter-kill Stalls pretty easily like the P39, but I can handle it

Winner - P40 - Simply because it was the one that I got my first kill in, and it is one of my most used 1 v 1 planes. (Ahh, that got yer Zakky - thought it was the spit )

    Mudmover's to come....

    P38

Simply LOVE flying it with all those HVAR's (esp anti-ships), the airbrake was a much needed thing, and although its as fragile as f***, I love it

    IL2

Flew it a hell of a lot a few months ago (When the Marlins nights were few and far between) with Kamikazee on numerous VEF missions, shooting up ships, tanks, trains, cars, airfields, 109's, 110's, parachutes, each other etc - and those AJ2's are one nice piece of kit. Not flown it as much as I'd like lately as I've been covering the rest of the squad from up high in La5F's - although that HAS made my mission survival rate soar

    110

Rhyn0 introduced me to this piece of kit - and it is damned good if used properly. The sheer adaptability of it is great - Mk108 for dogfighting, BK3.7 for tank busting, SC500's, SD500's, and some others that I can't remember Ever tried dive-bombing in one? God-damned tricky, but soooo cool when you hit 7 or 8 ground P40's on an airfield with one drop

Winner - IL2 - Even though you are much more vulnerable in it against Gunpods or Mk108 cannons, it has AJ2 cassettes so it must be the winner

Thank you for wasting your time
