I remember that, that was last night. One of the high levels new chars asked for "twinks" then explained what they were. I commented that us guys around the low-mid levels don't get any of that, but it was ignored.Originally Posted by Big Leon

As mentioned before the unwillingness of higher ups to help others because they're not in their clique or it isn't worthwhile in terms of xp or items is the wrong kind of attitude. But hey I'm not trying to preach here as I haven't been perfect either. However I'm always up for helping other players when I can regardless of level even when I've left the guild I still try to quest/help with Hexus Horde members.
I think it might be a good idea to post on these forums more about what you want to do. If you're having trouble getting a group together, try and arrange a time when you can all get online and do certain quests.
As for helping each other out (including those lower than you) - that should be a choice by the player - the guild cannot force people to do things.
"Well, there was your Uncle Tiberius who died wrapped in cabbage leaves but we assumed that was a freak accident."
I'm muddling along trying to gain levels.
To do this quickly I need to Solo.
The best POSSIBLE help any high level characters can offer me is items and equipment I can use at either cost or free.
This allows me to quest in my own time, doesn't require a high level character to nanny me along and guarantees I'll get max exp whereever I go, thereby leveling me much much faster.
Is this too much to ask? Not really, the ammount of cash peeps 20 levels higher than me make would buy my entire equipment, probably from one nights gaming! Besides there are so many lvl 40+ characters now that supply of just one or two items should be straight forward.
As for twinking.
Doesn't really bother me. In fact I've benefitted from other people twinking, especially when the twinking character reaches my level it makes it profitable for both players to run through an instance together for example.
It doesn't take much for a guild to run happily, honest!

It is important to note that if a higher level character teams up with you then the XP you receive is drastically reduced. If you simply want to get the good drop items from a quest rather than the XP associated with mob killing then obviously higher level characters are useful. If you're doing the quest for the challenge and the XP then having a higher level person along isn't the way forward. It just depends on what you're after at any one time.
I have to add that I have had a great time with some guild members recently in Scarlet Monastery and thereabouts. I don't get as much time to play as others yet they helped me out and it was much appreciated. It was either Madocks or Mattak (apologies I can't remember exactly who !) who was outstanding the other day on SM. He helped myself and Spinx no end with no real gain for himself.
Finally, it may just be me but I don't see to many queries for help in the guild channel from us lower level members. If we don't ask we don't get
I agree with you strongly on that note, a guild shouldn't become so strict to the point where players are forced into doing something they don't want to do. However it would be nice if someone had some free time on their hands if they went out of their way to help a fellow guild member.Originally Posted by mike_w

Was it not someone who was a high level char saying that they need us to be high level so we can help them to do high level instances? Well then, "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" comes to mind. Why should we help out low level alts if the high level mains won't help us? Not that they'll need much help though!
I didn't mean to come out the wrong the way, the guild community should be about helping each other. But it shouldn't be rigid but flexible to accomodate everybody's needs.Originally Posted by Allen

Okay...this is my "I am taking the most opposite view to show a point" argument.
If I, A N Other, help you, S O Mbody, through an instance when I am level 40 and you are level 20, all you get is a ****ty playing experience. Why? Because it takes a lot of the challenge away from the game, which makes it worthless. Its pointless for Mr/Mrs Other because as you all focus on, they get no items or exp; its pointless for Mr/Mrs(Ms, Dr, Prof) Mbody because they don't get the fun of the game.
Hence I would not ask my l12 char get walked through RFC.
That is why, when some of you "lower level guys" as for help through elite quests in xxxland I don't immediately pipe up with "oh I'll come help" BECAUSE I believe its ruining the game experience.
Its NOT because I don't like helping people out; I dunno if any of the criticism is aimed at me, but if so...I'm no saint, I don't want to spend all my time killing mobs 30 levels below me...BUT if I have stuff anyone needs that I don't, you're welcome to it.
But does that involve what would, had it happened to me spoiled some of the game, giving actual cash rather than gathered supplies or lucky drops away to people who could not expect to get that stuff at their current level then...no. I won't do it. I believe it spoils the game to have stuff given to lower level chars left right and center.
Giving to my own lower level chars is, in my mind, different because I have worked at the game to be able to do so.
I really, really hope this is coming across in the way I intend, and I suspect it probably isn't and will generate a lot of aggro so I'm...I'm trying to say this in the way I mean, not the way it probably sounds.
Help, where I can and it doesn't unbalance the game, yeah, absolutely. From what I can see, Tig helps everyone out loads, to the extent (from what I can gather) of making his own gaming experience less. I have helped Tig bits and pieces where I have stuff gathered I don't need (remember, I'm a miner which doesn't help me at all; I took that prof expressly to help out the guild..)...christ now it sounds like I'm trying to make myself out to be the Saint of the Guild which I am NOT. (*Edit* I meant to add but forgot that Tig has more than paid that back with the lovely mace he gave me last night! Thanks!!)
I just really, really, really like saying hi to people, having a bit of banter in the forums & chat, and having nice people to do instances with...I do not expect to be seen as a bastard, for want of a better word, for (a)playing the game, (b)showing a loot item I have just nabbed, (c) not running across continents to help someone an indeterminate number of levels lower than me do something they "can't" do at their level yet because thats the way the game is (supposed to be, again in my view of how the designers designed the game) designed.
I'll say again: this is my opposition to all that has been posted statement. Please, please don't think I mind helping folks out because I don't, truth is I am a sad git who looks forward to going home and playing this game in the evenings....and all this is making me really sad because I don't feel I'm doing anything wrong

Well Hello!
I feel exactly the same way mate. We really are trying to make this guild a sucess and all I get in return is more criticism.Originally Posted by daverobev

And daverobev, this wasn't aimed at anyone in particualar. There are a few certain people (who others know as I've named them) that have made comments and done things I felt were outside the "Code Of Conduct", this does not include people not grouping with others for quests and instances who are 20 levels below them. I understand that wouldn't work and am not saying that kind of help should be offered.
Since I was one of the ones bringing this up and making such a "fuss" about it, I'll leave as I don't want to/didn't mean to bring this guild into disrepute.
Okay, this appears to be getting a bit out of hand..

Allen,
I just don't understand what you want/expect from the guild..I am a happy player, I have played the vast majority of this game solo, and I played to 25 or 26 in beta solo also...there are 8 people on the guild list within a few levels of Ren..ok I am not 100% that that is 8 individual people...most of the instances I have done have been really hard work as they have been in 4s.
I dunno mate...this is a HARD game, it takes a long time to get "anywhere"...I'll be honest and say that, apart from this, I can find no complaint whatsoever with the guild...organised dungeon runs? Absolutely! Post a thread, "SM Thursday 8pm anyone interested??" and shout in game...surely that will get people in? SM is, IMO, the BEST instance so far. It doesn't need to be, Every Tuesday and Thursday we will do instances, it can be nice and ad hoc, and whenever someone posts, away whoever goes!
I don't know if you believe this, but I have really quite poor equipment for my level...it looks great to you, but its not amazing or anything...all I am trying to say is..it doesn't matter...having a group for an instance matters yes, and if you are finding it hard to instance in the guild then yeah I can see that as a problem, but there are more people round your instance level than there were round mine so...
Come on guys, this doesn't need to be silly, its a great game, we ARE a great bunch of people, lets all try to help each other out just a little bit more and see how we go for a while?
