Interesting comparision... PVP vs PVE kit..

I've spoken with Geist (Azog) a few times about PVP kits and how good it is and while i had some time this lunch time i added up the stats for two of the sets.. The purple PVP set for shaman, as well as the Purple PVE set of my preference from the server itself. I found it quite interesting in the set of results...

    PVP Warlords Shaman kit..
    Total stats...
    1976 Armour.
    32 Strength
    23 Agility
    173 Stamina
    109 Intellect
    0 Spirit

Passive Shock chance Crit up 2%
    +40 attack power…
    Melee Crit strike by 2%
DMG and healing done up to 76
    Ghost wolf speed up 15%

    EarthShaker PVE Shaman Kit
    2291 Armour
    44 Strength
    25 Agility
    91 Stamina
    83 Intellect
    106 Spirit

    Resistances
    Arcane 6
    Nature 8
    Frost 9
    Shadow 12
    Fire 6

Passive: Increases damage done by Fire spells and effects by up to 14.
Increases damage done by Nature spells and effects by up to 48.
Increases damage done by Frost spells and effects by up to 41.
Increases healing done by spells and effects by up to 66.
Increases the amount healed to targets beyond the first by 10%.
Improves your chance to get a critical strike with Nature spells by 2%

The PVP set is all about stamina... Thats an awful lot more stamina, crazy amounts infact. ~1730hp!. on 6 bits of kit..

The interesting thing is there is no resistances on this kit though, i thikn thats Very deliberate, why well for one the pvp kit isn't going to do you that much good in the highest level instances. No restitances means you are going to suffer badly again any type of magic driven attacks. Sure you may have some extra hp to stick with it, but given the choice imo at least, the PVE kit is a fair bit better.

The other reasoning for me is the complete lack of spirit... No spirit means no recovery of mana, with 200 spr i'm recovering 57 mana a second naturally. That may not seem great but its a shock every 5 seconds pretty much.. at 450 points of dmg..

Anyway thought i'd post to let you have a look what you think..

Any chance of letting us know where you found this, so we can work out the differences between PvP and PvE kit for other classes? If it's from places like Thottbot then I'll have to look tonight, can't access those sites from work.

    Allen,

Its the item set information here...

    http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/itemset.html

PVP sets are on here as well now at the bottom... The condensed information is from my calculations and work i've done to add the individual figures up.

No spi is a bit ouch, though many don't consider it essential for PvP - given you get no mana regen for 5s after casting a spell and no hp regen in combat it's not such a huge deal.

I'd noticed the PvP sets being very high stamina for all classes, I guess many people like to be walking tanks in PvP. Some of the passives are good too. That said the top end PvE kit has some crazy passives. The tier 2 mage set has a 10% chance for your next spell to become insta each time you cast a primary damage spell. I'd like that.

Alakhazam has a list of the set items, generally the best items in the game.

    Here's the rogue one:
    PvE
    951 Armor
    138 Agility
    36 Spirit
    75 Stamina
    49 Strength

    Resistances
    10 Fire
    20 Nature
    19 Shadow
    29 Arcane
    30 Frost

    Effects
Passive: Improves your chance to get a critical strike by 2%
Passive: Improves your chance to dodge an attack by 1%
Passive: Improves your chance to hit by 1%

3 pieces: Reduces the cooldown of your Vanish ability by -30.0 sec.
5 pieces: Increases your maximum Energy by 10.

Note: There are two items missing from the set (belt and bracers) because they are not included in the PvP set.

    PvP
    937 Armor
    77 Agility
    164 Stamina
    12 Strength

    Effects
    Equip: +92 Attack Power
Equip: Improves your chance to get a critical strike by 3%
Equip: Increases your chance to dodge an attack by 1%
Equip: Improves your chance to hit by 2%
Equip: Improves the duration of your sprint by 3 sec

    Set: +15 Stamina
Set: Reduces the cooldown of your Gouge ability by 1 sec
Set: Increases your chance to parry an attack by 1%

Same thing here with the huge ammount of stamina on the PvP set, it's all about single kills. Huge attack power and stamina.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

Ditto Slarys, my information only contains info for 6 of the 8 pieces to account for the missing items.

very interesting tbh. but remember thats the warlord armor set and tbh basicly set urself for disapointment that u'll never have it yourself (apart from tig cos he's obsessed )

but for warriors the huge sta seems exactly what your after as a def prot for instances.

+def and armour is also useful for tanking warriors.

It's more important for a warrior to not take damage in instances than have loads of HP, because it means they require less healing and therefore the healers get less aggro and everyone is happy

Definitely. Big HP is nice for absorbing spikes of damage, but you really want high defence, resists, armour to minimiise damage overall. I think the 3 main tanks in my guild are now all packing 370+ defence, which seems to help some.
