    Cool World of Pirates (WOP)

www.worldofpirates.de, recently out of beta and now actually stable ;- )

Take command of common sailing ships, similar to those in Sid Meirs pirates game on a well balanced and fast MMORG server! Accumulate skills quickly to sail the seven seas and instil fear into the salty sea dogs!

This game is great fun - I've been playing on and off since March - recently they added clans, reduced the price and added support for paypal. Even added a few new towns for us to discover.

The map is huge - around about 3 hours of sailing time from one side to the other, with vast areas of open water to practice skilling. There is no 'safe' area for noobs, just a restriction on who can be boarded at what skill level.

A note to english players, canons are triggered on z,x, not x,y as stated in the manual - as the germans are responsible for this great game.

Although there is a german presence on the server, the majority are english speaking. You can battle with English, Spanish, French or Dutch. English is the most populated, spanish have the most towns, french & dutch have some of the most powerful players.

By sailing the seven seas, you accumulate nav points that give you access to bigger and better ships - these are not limited - gradually increase the size of your fleet by adding more ships! Traders find it tough in the game, but very rewarding, trade with foreign ports to get more points quicker, though you need lots of nav to handle the big trading ships! Wannabe pirates need to be quick the the cannons and good fencers. The only way to learn is to keep scrapping no matter what!

Specialists are the key to the game - with a good mate, carpenter, fisherman and soldier you'll rarely need to make port. As time grows, you'll find they become more loyal and eventually won't abandon you when you're demoted to the raft (a prominant feature as a new player!)

You cannot die in this game, but initially you'll be prepared to loose everything! Friendly players will give you ships, cash and specialists to help you along - with the friendly atmosphere you'll always find a mentor on the waves.

Any hexus players out there fancy joining us?
