Sounds like g8ina is volunteering, for a midlands/centralish one!
If people want to do city buildings and the like, I can do a tour round the City of London one evening or weekend, as I'm always nearby.

ewww Auld Reekie, count me... in actually, rather fond of the place
Well I'd be a terrible guide, I dont go out togging/drinking much so I'd not know any good haunts but (and this is the most important bit) I live here (well, in Fife but nevermind)
I'd like to finally meet some HEXUS folk and I could bring my compact to play 'spot the n00b'
I'd be up for the Midlands one, Scotland would be good, but it's a fair old chunk of petrol at the moment

Well Rob, you would be more than welcome to use my camera if its on a day I can make it, I'm a complete noob with mine so it would be a learning experience for both of us. I know a few Edinburgh haunts (literally) and a few great eating places and pubs too (the place aint short of them).
As far as photography sites go, theres a fair few around the town, bridges, monuments etc. Not sure if they let you use cameras in Mary Kings close etc, but worth a visit regardless. I'm sure theres plenty within 30 minutes any direction as far as landscapes go ( This is Scotland after all, we have Scenery! (with a capital S and excalamation mark included)).
Any London/York/Newcastle/Birmingham visitors can get rail travel up on the express trains, East Coast, Crosscountry, plan far enough in advance and it should be fairly cheap. (ok, really cheap forme )
Anyone planning on doing more than the one day could take a trip to the highlands, or the clyde valley or anywhere around too.
Oh, and I know this lovely little italian place for dinner, right next to 2 strip clubs......

Thanks for the offer, we’ll have to see how things go
The castle is the obvious one, probably get some good shots from around the back as well and if, IF I could pull it off, my office building has a meeting room on the top floor of the building opposite Jenners that from memory has a view straight down Princes St and to the castle (don’t quote me on that) which could result in some cracking shots.

Edinburgh is a cracking spot for a meet. You can be down the coast at Seacliff or North Berwick in no time at all for some dawn stuff and some city stuff later. Then you've got the bridges as well. Carleton Hill for some evening shots looking down towards Princes Street. My folks are from Edinburgh so I go up fairly regular.
Carlton Hill in the evening then eh?
"I'm just taking pictures officer" (although that's even worse!)
Nudge nudge wink wink say no more!
