    camera insurance

right im about to order a d50 but i was going to order it from best cameras for their 2 year warranty but have decided i want some sort of insurance for it incase it gets dropped , stolen etc

so im now looking at http://www.cameras2u.com/products/de...ODUCT=D50BKIT1 , and their £45 3 year insurance but is their insurance going to be any good? ( it looks to be thru these guys http://www.domgen.com) on the face of it this looks good value as i could sell off the kit lens for £100 as i already have the 18-70 and so only really have ended up paying £15 for the insurance

or would i be better off going for independant insurance for the camera ( bare inmind i dont want to spend much at all) or is there any thing else i've missed

You know that cameras2U is Jessops in disguise?
& that policy doesn't include theft.

Normal household insurance should be enough to cover you for theft, dropped, flood, fire etc. As long as you have accident cover on your policy all it will cost you is £50 excess. Have a chat with your household insurance company and see whether they can give any extra protection for your camera.

Whilst this is true, many household policies don't cover for out of the house, but i'd agree that getting in touch with them and seeing if they can offer you anything would be a good idea.

I'm with Ensleigh, and it costs me about £60 a year to cover up to £750 of equipment for anywhere in Europe, including theft, accidental damage, loss etc.

Never used them, but apparently www.photoguard.co.uk are very good, a couple of pro's who shoot for Emap use them.
