Canon 20D v Nikon D70s

I was just set on payday (25th) to go down to my local Jessops and ask them to pricematch Amazon with a D70s 595 inc the kit lens.

Just been to Top Gear filming and got chatting to a guy who had a Canon 20D, had a little play and its certainly a nice thing!!

My question is this, I've looked on ebay and 'lightly' used models (body +kit lens' seem to go for around the 600 mark, am I gonna benefit from buying one of these instead of the D70s???

This will be my first DSLR (i have a Ixus800 and a Fuji S602Zoom) atm.

I've been debating this purchase for sometime now, and want to make sure I get it right

If you hunt around you might be able to pick up a 30D for around £650-700..

I phomed them 2 weeks ago, they said they are price matching but only on DSLR's

i'm more than happy with my d70 but the 20d does offer some improvements. 5fps and much better noise control at higher iso's being the main points. however the d70 has spot metering which i would not be without.

swings and roundabouts really. 6mpix to 8pix is a very small gap, only about 1 inch on paper at 300dpi. go try them both

I'm still swayed towards the D70s as it would be new, with warranty etc, I wish I wasn't so damn indecisive!!!

Might be worth waiting 20 days or so - looks like Nikon are releasing a replacement for the D70, using the D200 // A100 sensor.

Even if it doesn't appeal / is too pricey for you, it'll probably push down D70s prices!

I have had my D70 for 2yrs now, and very happy with it. Although the 20D is a nice camera too. Both great cameras, can't really go wrong with either, might wanna hold them both in Jessops before you hand over your cash

Hehe Shiatso, forgive me, i've been waiting too long to take the dive, I should have bought the D70s/350d 2 months ago when I started this desire, now I'm just so confused, I don't know what to do !!!!!!!!!
