This system good for the price?

My nephew is looking for a cheap PC and saw this one on the net:

    Link

For the price, is it a tidy PC? He only games a little on the pc, hardly any as he has numerous consoles!

He is 19 and is studying photography so needs a decent PC but doesnt have a big wedge to spend.

    Hi mate

Unfortunately I doubt it, especially with HDD prices as they are now, if you've a spare HDD then possibly. I'd personally go with a self build but thats just me. I like to know whats inside my rig!

BTW, as your nephew is studying, he may be eligible for software at a discounted price from:
    http://www.software4students.co.uk/

I've never ordered from there so don't know how they sell the products or if its OEM, Retail or something else, had a friend order something from there and he mentioned it was at a better rate.

In regards to the self build, you could always ask here, more of the senior members could advise better: http://forums.hexus.net/review-my-build/

    All the best.

Hmmmm, £350 is tight for a full build but possible. Review CAT's build of the month thread for suggestions. it's a reasonable spec for the price though, and Lenovo are a well regarded company.

For £350 it does seem like a nice pc. A good CPU too. Dont think i could build for the same price when you factor in all the bits and bobs and OS etc.

Re: This system good for the price?

I'd urge you to buy the completed model. That will come with the OS, and I really do think you'll struggle WITH QUALITY PARTS to better it.

You will also get the warranty - otherwise if there's a problem after you've built the rig you'll end up having to diagnose the problem (if the rig should develop a fault at some point) and then have to RMA the faulty component. For the sake of a couple of quid buy the assembled rig, it'll be much simpler in the long run.
