I had, well still have a half dead 550 watt EZ Cool. In fairness it was fine when I was running socket A gear, but when I moved to 939 it wigged out all the time.
EZ Cool power suppplies, just say no.

I still have a Qtec 500w, it was bought for £20 at my local store and at the time i didnt know much about pc's apart from what individual parts did. Now im educated i never go for a budget psu unless its reviewed highly which is why ive got a Xclio 700w now, stable as a rock .
Thank you all for your productive replies.
One more question, is their any other power supply makes one should avoid?
dont get qtec powmax or EZCool.
there are other brands with dodgey PSU's nestled within decent ones..
so it is safer to stick with corsair, seasonic, enermax etc
I've heard some hiper psu's can be dodgy, but besides that I cant think of any others. If you are ever unsure just post up here and one of us will advise you
As taktak its safer to just stick with the well known brands, such as fsp, seasonic, enermax, corsair, ocz, xclio, etc
Just bought one of the new Modular Enermax PSU's. Awesome is the word.
Great, thanks for all the info.
Not just me will benefit from this but hopefully others who have reservations over PSU's will take a look at it.
It is only for my gaming PC that i decided to investigate who made good PSU's and who did not.
I will now take this into consideration when building for others.
I bought an EZ-Cool, still got it in fact, still in its box. I used it for some months and it was just fine, never a glitch. When I mentioned that I had this PSU on this forum, I thought that I had advocated World-War Three, so fearing the worst I replaced it with a 650 Corsair, so far so good.
My advice would be not to buy the EZ-Cool, even though mine never did show up any problems!

ello, i registered purely to get the word out on my own experience on this one, add another voice to the chorus as it were when i say. "DO NOT BUY EZCOOL!"
i bought one from my local pc shop because i needed a psu quickly. from day one any time i put the settings up to full on gaming, my pc crashed / hard-reset / just fizzled and turned off.
replaced with a corsair unit that actually is meant to produce 100 lower and have had zero problems since.
save yourself the hassle!

I've had Tesco bags with more weight, don't waste your time and money. never skimp on a PSU as a decent one can last you YEARS!
