Sure you could find wires and stuff on eBay for less or maybe at Maplins?

    Re: Custom PSU Wiring?

Looks like chilled has the cable in stock.
If you want something that's not on the shelf, then just drop a note to Tom & he will sort it out.

As for other suppliers, recently purchased some from Mapline & it was very expensive for the quantity I had.

Rapid is not a bad company but 100 mts of cable is a lot.
I purchased a roll to make up a complete set of cables & I still have loads left.
I think I will have enough for years to come

    Re: Custom PSU Wiring?

I was just going to say the key thing you want it 18 AWG at least, American Wire Gauge is the standard thickness measurement used for most wires, it's a smaller = thicker measurement, you can get away thinner (20-22 AWG) on some of the wires and often you'll find 16AWG used on some of the 12v cables on higher end psu's, less resistance so less voltage loss over distance, although on most psu's the distances are not really long enough for major voltage loss issues.
What can be an issue is in el-cheapo psu's where they'll use thinner wire gauges the wires get hot and inside the psu where all the wires come together thinner wires can generate enough heat to melt the insulation.

    Re: Custom PSU Wiring?

I agree with what Pob says.

I remember killing a very cheep PSU a long time ago by adding extra length to the cables.

    Just went up in smoke
