Are you going to do SLI at all? but if you got one it would last you agggessss not really a waste of money.
You might upgrade and need it later, i would get it.
Nah i doubt i will ever use an SLI config. I guess it would indeed be future proff
tbh a Corsair CX600 would even be enough, or an HX 650
But if you have the cash and want a nice big PSU for the future then go ahead, you wont be disappointed by the 5459874 cables you get
Most corsair PSU's come with enough cables and connectors to wire a small city
If you don't intend to use sli then it would be overkill.
But in saying that you may change your mind later on, I did haha
i have a 530w Be Quiet psu... should be good for now.
I went for an 850w Corsair for my non-SLI system, its always useful having the extra power there for any future upgrades (Especially as the HX and AX series have 7 year warranties).
I'm planning on going overkill for PSU for future xfire aswell. It depends if you think you will need the power but its worth spending £20 more now than having to fork out another £70+ for a future upgrade.
It also depends on the max power requirement of the graphics cards you'll be using in Crossfire or SLI now/eventually. It's actually best not to simply buy a hugely overpowered PSU. Instead, calculate your maximum component power requirements for what you have, and what you'll plan to eventually move onto.
It's worth noting that PSU's operate most efficiently at half their maximum designated wattage rating.
It's also worth noting that with higher end PSU when running at 30% or so (that figure is a guess but like when not running over 50%) of the total output the fan will be very slow or off... so if you like silence then a larger PSU is more likely to run quieter since you will be utilizing a lesser portion of it's maximum capacity.
I have an HX 1000W for my non-sli system. Good for any future upgrades for headroom.
A 500w would be fine on your system.
Butuz
indeed a decent 500w would be fine
