    Help With PSU Selection.

Hi Guys i am upgrading my GPU at the end of the month and i will need to also upgrade my PSU.

I will be using for heavy gaming and general use.

The components i will be using:
    AMD Bulldozer Quadcore
    ATI Radeon HD 6750
    Cooler Master TX3 Evo
    2 Case Fans
    2 X Seagate HDD

I was hoping for a Modular PSU as they are alot tidier and some come with Dual rail.
    Price Range £50-£70 ($80 - $111)

These are the ones that have been suggested:

    OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W
    http://www.ebuyer.com/174182-ocz-mod...sp-uk?MID=4358

    BeQuiet Pure Power 630W
    http://www.ebuyer.com/387569-be-quie...bn107?MID=4358

    OCZ ZS Series 80PLUS 650W
    http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...roductId=45458

Just need some help with the choice.

    Re: Help With PSU Selection.

My preference is generally for Seasonic psu's, so I'd suggest this one instead:

Are you planning to upgrade to a more powerful graphics card, or is the 6750 your new one? If you're sticking with the 6750, you could probably drop to a 500-550w psu.

    Re: Help With PSU Selection.

I think my wife's PC is similar spec (AMD 3 core Phenom, 6770 graphics, 2 hard drives) and has a Corsair 450W psu.

What PSU do you have at the moment?

    Edit to add: Crossed posts

Quick look at this review shows a system with a 7870 video card pulling 310W at the wall whilst gaming.

It'll just be a three-pin 'kettle' type power lead...if you're upgrading your PSU you should already have one It's a bit odd that they don't supply a UK lead...I thought that by law all appliances had to be sold with one. In any case, you could always cut the incompatible plug off the lead & wire up a UK plug top, just as long as you know what you're doing of course

The 7870 won't be all that power-hungry...how about this one:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/550w-...et-fan-atx-psu

It's Gold rated, and you can get free delivery from Scan after 25 posts on here, I believe.

Just as an addendum, if you're looking at a 7870, you might consider this card:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/432444-powerco...2gbd5-2dhppv3e

Although it's described as a 7870, it's actually based on the Tahiti core or 79xx architecture, & is therefore more powerful than the usual 7870's.
