Compatible PSU for Dell XPS 8300?

It has a 460w Power Supply already.

If you could confirm the amperage on the 12v rail is high enough I don't think you need to upgrade. (This will be found on the sticker on the side of the PSU)

I did say this in post #4 but there was no confirmation on the 12v rail.


Skyh, if it comes to it you could always buy a cheap case and swap the internals over then you could fit a proper psu if needed.

Anyway, the eVGA supply is 86 (h) x140 (w) x 180 (L). The Dell supply is 86 x 150 x 140. 3 of the mounting holes would fit the eVGA 750G2 and are thus presumably standard; the 4th could be drilled.

Standard dimension for this form factor is: 150mm (W) x 86mm (H) x 140mm (D)

So the figures you have for the EVGA unit are incorrect, as it is also 150mm wide.

So it's just a matter of which of the 86x140x150 supplies to use: Corsair CS650/750W Gold, CX600/750W Bronze, or eVGA 600W Bronze. They all have about the same review level on Amazon (4.4 stars), but the CX has a lot more reviews, for what that's worth.

If going for an 80 PLUS Bronze rated unit I would go Cooler Master G550M, as it is indepentantly regulated, modular and have a 5 year warranty. Unlike Corsair CX*00 Bronze or EVGA Bronze units.
