    I don't mind paying a £105 recovery fee...

    The stupid thing is that it's a small number of scrotes who actually do the nicking. If the police catch two car theives in a town the size of Brighton they have pretty much cracked Brighton's car crime problem.

    I use this example because while I lived in Brighton that's exactly what happened. The cops put on a sting where they planted a tasty BMW 320i where it couldn't be well seen and watched it. They caught two crooks the second night and two more about 2 weeks later. They had been nicking 1 or two cars each per night so the police caught the crooks responsible for the theft of something like 1,000 cars a year at the cost of 20 night overtime for three coppers.

    Now wouldn't that be more worthwhile than fining people who have had their cars nicked?
