The PM should be, if he thinks thats its for the public's good, imo. So it should be a question of whther he thinks it is, not whether he's perpared to do it.

just to clear another thing up, in your educated position, would you say that speed is more dangerous and has more profound effects than weed and would you say that it makes sense to have them in the same bracket? or do you think that if it is going to be classed as anything it should be class C?

Well, I think youd have to be dumb to say they're in any way the same class of drug. So yeah, I think cannabis should be a class C drug. I just think that if the government thinks that it should be legalised, then downgrading it is the "easy" way out, and actually means probably very little in the real world. Ecstasy for example, is possibly safer than alcohol in many respects, but its still illegal, and alcohol isnt. I agree with the idea that allowing alcohol and banning weed is just stupid... alcohol is one of the worst drugs there is! Just think how many families its split up, how many incidences of domestic violence, how many random beatings up and many other things besides! I dont think that can be said of weed now can it?

Exactly, asking a politician to enact a law on principle is never, ever going to happen. You might get him to enact it with the G. Brown tax income line, but a high powered politician doing something BECAUSE OF PRINCIPLE? That would be a first...nice to see a few people here have some faith in the lib dems though, which I'm sure will disappear if they ever become government...

I don't particularly see how you can have legalised alcohol and nicotine and not cannabis. You can destroy your life with any of the three, so it is a little strange to have two legal and one not.

I wouldn't change my vote on this issue though, purely because it really isn't that big an issue...hell it wouldn't bother me if a potential government promised to outlaw alcohol and nicotine, since I suffer neither of those vices, in fact, I'd probably vote for them if they had a sound education policy and a vaguely moral (as opposed to commercial) view of the world.

Alcahol is more dangerous than cannabis - fact.

More people try harder drugs straight out than those that go via the so called "cannabis gateway" - fact.

Policing cannabis use is a large waste of police time that could be used to fight more important crimes - fact.

Legalising Cannabis would mean being able to control it much more, users being much less likely to come into contact with Drug dealers and therefore less offers of harder drugs etc.....Thats my opinion.

Im sorry but Cannabis is no more dangerous than alcahol or tobacco, both of which has been proven in tests, so how come both tobacco and alcahol are on sale and not discussed or doubted in this way?

because people dont consider them to be drugs, just like they dont realise that they are taking drugs every time they have a cup of tea or can of coke. its something that has been bred into people by years of government propaganda on teh subject (propaganda is I think the only word for it).

I have extensive experience with EVERY drug that you have heard of and the worst of the lot in my opininion is alcohol, anyone here who has drunk a lot will know what it does to you. It caused depression, ulcers, headaches, bad breath, diarrhoeae, vomiting, sometimes all in the same day, NO other drug I took had this effect( including H). Nowadays I smoke a bit of weed or hash, have given up tobacco on Monday so I will only smoke in a pure pipe now, and I think whereby weed is not safe it is a lot better than tobacco or Alcohol. As has already been discussed weed does not cause mental illness but can catalyse the manifestation of an illness, NOT CAUSE IT, these old Jamaican men who are in there with schitzophrenia HAD IT ALREADY, weed just brought it to the fore, true if they had not smoked then maybe it would not have manifested itself, who knows? Because cannabis can contribute to the symptoms of mental illness being manifested does not mean that smoking it will cause mental illness.
