Journalists were shown a metal orthopedic plate that officials said they had removed from Uday's left leg and were told that its serial number matched that of a disc that was inserted in his limb after a failed 1996 assassination attempt.

U.S. officials have declined to reveal how they have had access to the former ruling family's medical records.

They said both men had died from multiple gunshot wounds and blast injuries in the northern city of Mosul. Two other people also died. Those bodies were not shown. U.S. officials say one of them was probably Qusay's teenage son, Mustapha.

An interesting question. How do the US army have the two son's medical records? Or DNA records for that matter...?

I'd imagine they've stumbled across them or what they think is them somewhere on they're way through iraq.

It's not too contentious, this one. The US could quite conceivably have a source or mole close to the brothers who could have provided this information - look at how they were actually caught and also how the US got information from a source close to Saddam that lead to the restaurant bombing. They also have complete access to Baghdad's medical facilities and records and some doctor would have fancied making a quick bob or two by selling the info to the Americans. Of course doing this would make him a marked man for Ba'ath loyalists so it's understandable he'd want to remain anonymous.

Its a hard one, will they believe the invaders that have murdered quite a number of thier own people, have killed thier brutal leaders?

Not very likely, some may, I think most will not!

Its that "will not" section that needs to be convinced, not the %'tage that are opening thier arms to the Americans and us British.
