Yep, try having a car insurance company for men only and see how quickly someone screams about sexism.

if you shouldnt discriminate, that little box on insurance forms shoulsnt make any difference if its on male or female, in my experiance the only reason why women dont claim on their insurance is becasue daddy paid for the car to be repaired....

Actually, statistically, women have slightly more accidents than men, but they overwhelmingly tend to be low speed manoeuvering accidents, occasion much, much less damage, and involve way less chance of injury or death for other people. That's just a fact, and insurance premiums acknowledge that. And that's not discrimination, that's actually judging people by an objective standard; if you're male, you're less likely to have an accident, but if you do, you're much more likely to cost the insurance company a lot more money. Your premiums reflect that.

I was actually refering to the insurance company that is solely for women drivers. Don't know if anyone has tried to do the same for men but if they do I'm cynically convinced that it would face a storm of indignation about chauvenism, sexism or any other 'ism' you can think of.

As you have probably guessed from posts over the months. I have a low opinion of society as a whole. Based solely on wide experience I assure you.

RVF, the women only insurance company banks on the fact that women drivers cost insurers less. I'm sure that you could set up a men only insurance company if you wanted, but there'd be unlikely to be any advantage in doing so; rather the reverse, I'd have thought.

Naah....I've seen how men drive .....including me. Though I suppose if you only insured older drivers with a long no claims istory you might be on to something....hmmmmm. Not that I have the money to set up an insurance company.

No, I'm thinking more of setting up a premium rate phone line and giving it as a contact number to Nigerian spammers. See how many of them call me at £50 per minute.....it's a thought

Still....with our mad PC laws I'm surprised no one has decided to try and sue the insurance company in question for discrimination. As they are refusing to insure people on the grounds of their sex. Your the lawyer mate, not me. What's the score with that? Not that I'm planning a law suit. Life's too short to worry about crap like that.

See the other thread (Zak's). The EU actually attempted to legislate against insurance companies discriminating on the grounds of gender, correctly IMO.
