I this has been a case of misquotation. According to the BBC it was taken from a documentary due to air on 10th October and wasn't even a direct quite from Bush. It was a Mr Saath (Palestinian negotiator) that was recalling a conversation he had with Bush some time before (2003) so was probably an interpretation of what Bush actually said.
There is no secret that Bush is very religeous, so what he originally said behind closed doors may have had spiritual undertones, but i would doubt he said it exacty as was reported earlier today.
I'm a little dissappointed at the Indipendant for running the story. Out of all the broadsheets in the UK it is my favourite, they don't normally go in for that sort of thing, instead prefering to go with their own take on things.
I'm fairly certain this is a misquote.
Still, points made about people, including Bush, who see themselves as being on a mission from God as being dangerous are still very valid.
Anyway, I've got nothing against drunks and/or cokeheads.
Likewise, but would have a problem if one was voted into the most powerfull political position in my country. But I also heard that this could be a misquote, still, it pales in comparrison to his mission from beyond the stars comment in his second inauguration IIRC.I've got nothing against drunks and/or cokeheads.
Well, this "mission" from sounds awfully familiar...The crusades anyone?? I feel a repeat of history coming on...
I also believe a leader of any country who is religious like Mr. Bush is, must never imply they're going about a given course of action because their religion insists that they do so...thats just silly...
Assuming Bush did say that, then hes just given terrorists that little bit more justification to attack the west...
