George Bush: 'God told me to end the tyranny in Iraq'

"President Bush said to all of us: 'I am driven with a mission from God'. God would tell me, 'George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan'. And I did. And then God would tell me 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq'. And I did."

Mr Bush went on: "And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me,

Now I've heard everything maybe now it's time someone removed Bush from office and put him in a little padded cell.

Yeah, coming from an alcoholic(doesn't drink, but they say once an alco, always an alco) and ex cocaine user, it does come over as slightly concerning. Especially considering he's in charge of argueably the most powerfull military in the world, and seems to like to use them for lots of things.

Yes, it does sound worrying, but to be fair he may have been tailoring his style of speech to fit the culture of the person he was talking to.
Besides, the photo in that story clearly show Dubya's halo, so maybe it was true!

The guys nuts, was there ever any doubt?
The fact that he thinks hes doing the right things because "God told me to do it" is worrying a bit tbh...

Well I'm not surprised in the slightest after all he's from Texas.

I heard about this story yesterday. I read it in today's (07/10/05) Independent. I first thought it was a wind-up but there were two people present when Bush made these statements.

Now, the irony is that Bush is out there to eliminate religious fundamentalism. I think the world has gone mad. The most powerful man in the world is a God's-voice-hearing retard.

Thinking about this a bit more, an interesting question is raised. Bush obviously moves in divine circles and has some good contacts 'up there'. So, when Colin Powell was doing his Hollywood theatricals at the UN, showing maps, recorded phone conversations and test tubes containing white powder, was it George W. Bush or God that lied about the WMD in Iraq?

I guess Bush would blame God.

The most disturbing thing in my opinion is that we have already seen that those who truly believe that God is on their side are capable of doing or attempting almost anything.

    Halo?

He looks more than a little demonic in the picture, what with the whole trying to look through his forehead thing going on.

Although, having stolen one of his speeches from Independence Day, maybe he's building up to the Hulk's "You won't like me when I'm angry" ...

As much as I like that picture, Washington state(the one that occupys the most north west point in the USA, is crazy religious. There are plenty of dry towns there. Very religious.

It doesn't really surprise me that George Bush has so little understanding of Muslims, he feels he has to tell them he's on a mission from God, in order to get them to believe he's serious..

I dont think its for the benefit of the muslims, maybe its to do with the more religious types in america to get more backing or perhaps he does actaully believe it, if its the latter and not a political ploy to get some support/people off his back then he needs to be removed as any other person that directly or indirectly kills people and blames it on god gets section 8'd......

I think it's hilarious that on the one hand you have you have Bin Laden and all the other "God is great" nutters saying we're doing gods work by killing westerners and on the other you have Bush doing "Gods work" by killing terrorists.

perhaps it would be better if the sane people of the world i.e. non - religious just eradicated both of them and their followers.
