    New PC Build

Hello guys I was hoping I may get some of your thoughts to what you think of my planned upgrade, My current pc is 3-4 years old now and showing issues of it's age and I have been putting up for it since start of the year so I think it is high time for an upgrade, I don't want to spend too much but I want something that won't bottleneck mid-high end gpus, e.g 6870 or 560 ti etc.

    My current setup is
    CPU Intel E7500 @3.2 GHz,
    Mobo Asus P5Q SE
    Ram ddr2 1600
    GPU 460 gtx 2G
750 W PSU (was a cheap one so not confidant with it's remaining life)

    So my build would be

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE
    MOBO: MSI 870-G45
    PSU: 850W PSU, XFX
RAM: Corsair Memory Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600 MHZ
    Case: Corsair Carbide Series 400R

I would get a gpu December/ next year

All that with delivery totals at £350 which is a bargain me thinks.
I would manly use it for gaming.

right and and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated.. thanks guys !!

    Re: New PC Build

Massively overkill on the PSU - halve the wattage. Otherwise good bargain build - you could save another £15-20 by going for 4GB ram - games don't need any more, while the same increase on a GPU might make a difference.

    Re: New PC Build

The Corsair Carbide is ok but nothing amazing and for the cost it's not great.

I'd look at the Coolermaster CM 690 II, HAF 912+ or Storm Enforcer, BitFenix Survivor, LanCool K60 or Fractal design ARC midi

On GPU you gtx460 should still be good esp if it's one of the factory overclocked models, (unless it was one of the SE models)
Yes the 6780 or gtx560ti will be faster but not by that much. About 20% comparing stock speed cards, if you can get the gtx460 to around 800mhz then you're looking at only a 10% increase on the 6870 and you're equal to the current gtx560(non-ti) and 6850
You'd really need to be looking at a 6950 or gtx570 for a solid jump in performance.
