Looks ok to me apart from..

The case suggests you are going to try some overclocking, although you are sticking with the stock cooler for your cpu?

Also, personally I would consider an SSD even if it just for your OS and a couple choice games.

As above - looks fine. A better cooler and SSD would be nice though.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

I would spend around £20-30 less on the case, mobo and PSU (you dont really need that wattage). Then spend that £60-90 on an SSD.

Re: how good is the spec for the price also this is my first build

Motherboard is pricey. I know it is a premium one but you can get passable mid-range ones for about half that money. Any particular feature you need on it?

Agreed with others SSD. Everything else is high end but the whole thing will feel decidedly mid-range without a SSD. Even with a 128 gigger you can get your OS and a few games on it. I'd scrimp a bit on motherboard just to get the SSD if money is tight.

Maybe spend £40 on a bigger aftermarket heatsink/fan for processor? Now is the time to do it as you can get the clamps on the back easily. Some don't need it, but retrofitting is a pain. With a full size case you have the space to do it so i'd go for a big chunky tower heatsink with 120mm fan. Just check RAM / graphics card spacing away from cooler - it can get tight.

and what others have said about the cpu cooler.

You don't need to go to £40 on the cooler, £25 for a coolermaster 212 Evo http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0068OI7T8 or £27 for the Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 Pro http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arctic-Cooli.../dp/B0047V8E1K

Swap the ram for crucial ballistix sport £28 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-Ball.../dp/B006YG94Y2

Case; the fractal design Arc is well worth a look http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fractal-Desi.../dp/B0056AFBB2 as is the corsair carbide 300R http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Carb.../dp/B006I2H0YS (this might be the most budget of the carbide range, lacking some of the features but it's still the same good base frame)

    the antec 302 isn't bad http://www.amazon.co.uk/Antec-Three-.../dp/B006TVQTHW
if you want cheaper and funky looking then the Zalman Z11 Plus is worth a look http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zalman-Z11-P.../dp/B007C008L2 or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zalman-Z11-S.../dp/B007BZS0GI non-led version

+1 for the Hyper 212 Evo cooler and Carbide 300R case. I have these and can highly recommend

Agree with the better cpu cooler. SSDs are a waste of money imo - expensive for what they offer.

Really? I wouldn't consider building a new PC without an SSD! It makes such a huge difference to boot times and system responsiveness, let alone running disk-intensive programs. Yes they are expensive in terms of cost per gigabyte, but they are absolutely worth it in my opinion.

Each to their own. I suppose it's a matter of balancing cost v benefit.

True enough, but I would prioritise an SSD above a higher power PSU & expensive motherboard, as in the spec listed by the OP. £75 for a £128 SSD isn't that expensive, IMO.

Just out of curiosity, do you use an SSD in your own PC?
