New components for me

Evening chaps,
currently have q6600 OC'd at 3.6ghz, 4gb ram, HD7950 OC'd, 1 dvd drive, 1ssd drive, 2hdd's and a hx620 all sitting in a coolermaster 600T

About to purchase the following:
Just want a set of wise eyes to check it over, so that i haven't done something idiotic.
Would you recommend any changes on what you see?

i just purchased a new I5, take all i say with a pinch of salt.. bit out the loop like yourself i guess but:

faster RAM over PC3-8500 is pointless, no benefits at all,
motherboard is a popular one, have a check on today only when you do purchase as they are always on there with a CPU/by itself
ssd im not aware of, i stick to MX100/ crucial / samsung so not sure if its a good chip/ssd..

I'd get the stuff from Amazon - it's cheaper. There's Hyper X fury on there for ~62 pounds I think, and there are better SSDs for the price on Amazon.

Anything sandforce based requires compressible data to perform optimally. If you can get An MX100 for around that price it'd be a good buy.

Agreed.Crucial and SanDisk SSDs are a safe and budget wise bet. No SandForce controllers. Go for Marvell controller or such.

Edit: Wasn't aware that you choose SanDisk Ultra II. Keep that drive. Is better that the MX100.

Are you planning to overclock? if not then one of the xeon's would be a better option over the i7, cheaper

What case is that? I cannot recall or find a coolermaster 600T, do you mean the corsair 600T?

edit: do you need 4tb hdd? personally I'd go with a toshiba 2tb http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2tb-t...he-8ms-ncq-oem which should be plenty or maybe a pair of them.
I know that 2 drives means twice the possible points of failure, but it also means you don't lose 4tb of data if one drive fails, I also like to put different types of data/software of different drives.

I wouldn't go for 1.65v rated RAM - I believe Intel recommend 1.5v, as higher voltages can damage the CPU memory controller. I'd go for some 1866 rated 1.5v Cas 9 stuff, if you can find it reasonably cheaply, there's not much benefit to go higher IMHO.

Building a similar system myself, definitely check amazon they had lightning deals on SSDs during all week (black Friday) and are cheaper at least on the 4790k.

I believe jackvdbuk's cashback offer requires you to buy the Motherboard and CPU together, have a read through the terms and conditions.

Cant say I would rather buy 2 drives but I own the Toshiba hdd Pob255 mentioned, reliable so far and definitely good value, decent warranty too contrary to Seagate's 1 year.

Sandforce isnt that bad now is it? I cant say Ive had any trouble with my Intel drives using a sandforce controller.

Why to risk if you don't have to...? I will always remember SandForce for the compatibility problems plus frequent updates to try to amend those problems.
