    You have plenty of CPU options with that motherboard so I'd be inclined to keep it.

    What's wrong with it currently, as I'm surpsied this can't handle Windows 11. I have built a 6 series i5 machine running just fine with it.

    What do you use the computer for and what are you trying to aim for?

    If it doesnt like Windows 11 it might be down to the TPM side of things, check your BIOS settings as the AMD chips usually have it on the CPU rather than a separate module on the board...

    As for USB-C, you can get a PCIe card with USB-C ports on it...

    Didn't sound like you're a million miles away from what you want, Windows 11 compatibility check and maybe a bios tweak if needed?

    Re: Want new cheap pc . please help

    Sadly your 2400G isn't on the Windows 11 compatibility list. Not sure why, but Microsoft don't seem to support Zen1 based CPUs with yours included. So first up, there should be a USB C port around the back of your PC. If you want something on the front, what do you need it for? There are cards and drive bay adaptors that might help with that. If that's OK, then you can keep your motherboard.

    * Upgrade the BIOS

    You need at least BIOS 7C02v3A.zip to support a more recent AMD APU, so best just put the latest on there. That will also sort out any fTPM compatibility issues the board may have had with Windows 11.

    * Install a new CPU

    I would suggest a 5600G https://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-Ryzen-5...dp/B092L9GF5N/
    That would be a lot faster than your existing 2400G, and is on the compatibility lists for both your motherboard and Windows 11 while not being that expensive. There is also the 4600G if you want to go cheaper. That wouldn't be as fast as the 5600G, but still a step up from your existing CPU.

    At that point, run the Microsoft PC checking app and see what it complains about. Hopefully you are done, but if nothing else a clean install of Windows 10 should at that point get you something that can upgrade to 11.

    Re: Want new cheap pc . please help

    All looks good, some usb cards have a type e header if you case has the connector.

    As for Windows 11 I don't believe the 2400G is supported, I know the 3400G is as I am running one on windows 11.

    A 3400g would be a drop in and a small upgrade or go for a 5600g/5700g but make sure you update the bios before swapping.

    With that there is many more CPUs which could fit if you want a separate GPU.

    Can't you just bypass the tpm check? There are plenty of ways on how to do it

    This true but then your only one update away from it being broken, I just leave older machines on windows 10 for now as there is still supported until October 2025 and I would guess with enough users vital security updates will still come after that or windows 11 will be opened up more.

    Yeah I should point out that's what I did with the 6 series i5 I'd built and it runs absolutely fine with 16GB and desktop use.
    Unfortunately I don't recall the exact model of i5.

    Re: Want new cheap pc . please help

    Ryzen 5700X for about £160 *update to latest BIOS before installing 5700X* but expect it would work out of the box being the Max version
    32Gb RAM kit for about £70
    2Tb NVME Gen3 Crucial P3 / P3 Plus - £100
    Decent aftermarket cooler - Thermalright Peerless Assassin or similar - £35

    £360 for a much better spec system - £15 for the CPU - £30 for the RAM

    Closer to £300 total cost.

    I had to do it on an old AMD laptop, its been fine ever since through all the updates. Plus secureboot is now turned off as I dual boot with Linux

    That 5700X would also require a discrete GPU to be plugged in, which could double the upgrade cost. We would need to know what the PC is used for to know what the PC is being used for to know if that route is a good one.

    I'm guessing if the OP is using 2400G integrated graphics and not complaining about it, then GPU isn't a big requirement.

    Re: Want new cheap pc . please help

    For a budget machine a 5600 would suffice (assuming a discrete GPU is present) they're cheap and the gaming performance on a lower end card is negligble compared to an 8 core chip, as for productivity it's also waaay faster than a 2400G and leaves another eventual upgrade path to something like a 57/5800X3D down the line.

    + just buy a PCI-E > USB-C adapter card to add those ports.
