    Re: Windows 7 & Overclocked PC's

    Hi Ben,

Should I update the BIOS to the latest version which is 1704 for the ASUS Rampage II Extreme. I am currently on 1504.

I have not had any freezing issues for an hour now.

    Regards

    Dips

    Hi Dips

I will speak with R&D and ask which is the most stable Bios for the board, if you do a bios update you will need to note all the bios settings as even though you can save a profile it sometimes doesnt reload after a bios update !

Have you tried reloading the system back to its factory state using acronis?

    Regards

    Ben

    Re: Windows 7 & Overclocked PC's

    Hi Ben,

As the system froze again yesterday at the desktop and after I powered off and on again, I checked msconfig for the startup programs. I noticed that the Soundmax drivers showed as 32 bit even though my Win 7 Pro is 64 bit, therefore I downloaded the latest drivers from Asus website for 64 bit compatibility and installed this therefore I will see how this goes.

I have the bios overclock settings from Paul if it is safe to update to the latest bios once you have confirmed this. Is this all I would need if I did update the bios.

    Regards

    Dips

    Re: Windows 7 & Overclocked PC's

    Hi Dips

The 1504 Bios is the one we are still using on Ramapage boards I would recommend sticking with this one.

The AVG Free edition is a cut down version and not the retail one we sell, the Free edition is free as it is nowhere near as good as the retail, personally I am a kaspersky fan and use this and set it to game mode it never bothers you, unless you get a trojan or someone trying to hack you

Thanks for the link though I will advise future customers to avoid using this

If you need info on reloading the system I am going to post a Sticky at the top of the forum there is a section on our System Support Site which it will link to the version 2009 V12 Acronis layout is the same as the 2010 V13

    Regards

    Ben

Re: Intermittent Mouse Freezing - Windows 7 64 bit

    Hi Dips

Following your conversation with Sanay yesterday I see from your PM you are still having the same issue, please backup your system and reload the image from Acronis, we have had a number of software related issues recently and this will help eliminate this, Free antivirus software has been 90% of the issue so a reload will determine if software installed after the system was delivered is causing it.

If you are still having the same issue after a software reload we will arrange to get the system collected and looked at here

    Regards

    Ben
