Last night, I went to switch on my beloved 3XS Powerdaw system. I always switch off everything when I have finished using it.
To my horror, I heard a horrific loud crack sound when I switched on the psu's power switch. It then started to make this terrible electrical sizzling sound.
With that I quickly switch off everything.
Again, I switch it on to see what the hell was going on as by this time I was panicking. This time I didn't have the loud crack sound but I could still hear the loud electrical sizzling sound. I then checked to make sure the IEC was in properly and it was, well it was in as far as it could go.
I then noticed that touching the IEC caused this and also the system switch off and lost all power with just moving the cable.
Again, I switched off.
Luckily I had another spare 13amp IEC kettle lead and tried it with that.. This one fitted more "snug" into the psu's socket. Then powered up.
The system seems fine thank god!
I'm worried though that it has caused some damaged.
I am half expecting to have scorched parts if I open up the system. Due to its placement, opening the system is not easy but I might have a look later today.
Saying that, there seems to be no damage to the psu's prongs and there is no smell of electric burning or any damage to the culprit cable.
Is there a sure way to test the system?
I'm really worried that this has happened.
Regards,
Michael.
