I haven't but I don't think it's actually booting. Loads of fan noise which stays high, no keyboard lights, no sign of any disk activity etc.
I just tried booting the old machine on the monitor and that works fine, so I think it's pretty unlikely to be that, but thanks for the idea.
try to reset the BIOS?
Ram or motherboard problem?
Hi Rufass
Have you tried taking all but one memory stick out of the system?
If this fails to boot still let us know and we will arrange either an RTB for the system or an onsite engineer if this is easier for you

Ben
No, I haven't tried anything other than what you've asked me to. One of the reasons for buying a built system was precisely so I wouldn't have to do things like that. Besides I didn't want to touch anything unless instructed.
When you say 'with the least amount of hassle', who for? I can see this is going to be painful whatever we do. I am in London this week but might be able to arrange for someone to be in.
Hi Rufass
We are going to arrange an onsite visit, how this works is we contact the onsite company on your behalf and send the parts to them, they then contact you to arrange a convenient date and time to come out and repair the system

Just in case there are people thinking this never got resolved, here's an update.
An engineer contracted by Scan contacted me on Monday last week. Unfortunately I was away in London all week and it wasn't until the following Monday (this week) that I was able to let him in to have a look at the machine. I left work early and met the engineer at the house. He had a box with him that Scan had sent him with just about every component of my PC just in case.
The first thing he checked was the memory, he took all of it out and tried the machine again and nothing happened, both he and I were surprised there no beeps but he put one of the sticks back in and this time the PC booted fine! He then replaced all of the sticks with new RAM and checked the PC was back to its working state.
That was the first thing he tried but I am confident that whatever the problem was he would have been able to fix it given that Scan had given him all the parts he needed including the motherboard.
So, I can be critical when I don't think I'm getting good service or when service fails to live up to its billing but this was very good. I certainly feel that Scan will always find a way to resolve a fault.
Fingers crossed I don't need it again though!
