I would also like the system to come with windows 7 Ultimate 64bit pre-installed but the website wouldn’t allow me to specify that option.

    My questions are;
    • Can I have windows 7 ultimate 64bit?
    • Can anyone give me some idea of how noisy this PC would be? Noise could be a bit of an issue for me if the machine is really loud.
    • If I ordered this week, when might I expect delivery of the machine?
    • I have seen posts where pictures are shown of machines being built. Is this something that always happens? Would I be able to see pictures of my machine in the build process?
    • Can I have the name of a person at Scan that I can telephone to discuss this order with in more detail? I would need to order by telephone because this isn’t a private PC I’m using.

Thanks for any advice/answers or suggestions, and nice to meet you all.
    ceeJ.

    yes

    • Can anyone give me some idea of how noisy this PC would be? Noise could be a bit of an issue for me if the machine is really loud.
High end air cooled graphics cards under load are noisy, about 67db or something. 2 of them even more so.

    • If I ordered this week, when might I expect delivery of the machine?
Well windows 7 isn't out for 10 days, I asked a few days ago how long the current wait for a system was and was told about 2 weeks. So I guess you are looking at a bit over 2 weeks. 3 maybe.

I have seen posts where pictures are shown of machines being built. Is this something that always happens? Would I be able to see pictures of my machine in the build process?
I wouldn't bank on it personally, I've certainly seen a few threads where people had asked for photos of their system that never arrived. I'd expect this is about to be a pretty busy time but if it's a big deal for you I'd have thought they would do their best.

    • Can I have the name of a person at Scan that I can telephone to discuss this order with in more detail? I would need to order by telephone because this isn’t a private PC I’m using.
Scans sales number is 0871 472 4747, I ordered a high end pc today (not quite as high end as yours though), I spoke to Pete, he was friendly and helpful.

Since noise matters to you have you thought about going for an overclocked i7920 rather than the 975 and using the money you save on water cooling? you won't lose much performance but your system will be quieter and more attractive.

are you sure you want a gtx295? it has a tiny bit more performance than the new 5870 but the 5870 is better bang for your buck, has no worries with things like microstuttering being a single gpu and has directx11. just noticed you are going for 2xthe 295 thats quad sli, personally I'd much prefer going with 2 x 5870, but each to their own.

swaping the raptor for an ssd will make the pc faster and quieter too, the ssd is silent, the raptor is noisy.

    Thanks for your help guys.
I ordered my system the other day.
Carl took my order and it was a pretty good experience.
Pretty much same spec as I listed.
Looking forward to seeing some pics. (thanks Carl & Phillipp)
