Question Watercooling questions (system spec fairly similar to black widow extreme)

Is it worth having the vapor-X version of the 5870 on a watercooling system (I am thinking similar to black widow extreme too) as it's quieter for air cooling, I'm not sure if when you put the watercooling block on you remove/cut off the fan etc?

I've been asking other forum members here but would like your opinion too, you seem very honest in not pushing for the 975 etc and explaining it's not worth it even though the higher price would give you a bigger profit, I was impressed it's not the kind of attitude you usually see with other companies!

I'm also curious as to whether taking into consideration the pump and the fans used on a watercooling system if it would genuinely be quieter than the kind of fans taktak mentioned here (noctuas)? not even sure if that would be safe really since the Scan page for the radiator stack mentioned says needs 1600rpm fan for high performance and the noctuas are 1200rpm

Basically would like the sound as low as possible but not messing up efficiency as a cost.... In the thread mentioned I asked people about possibly putting the case in another room and using DVI extension cables for monitor and USB extensions + extra hubs (to make sure the cables didn't run out of power near end) for mouse/keyboard/other peripherals but was told response time (as I was worried about) and bandwidth could suffer

Yeah sorry I was originally replying to Phillip on the black widow extreme thread just below this (but I thought I should make my own so as to not interfere with the other guy's support), I changed the text a bit but forgot to put what I was replying to!

    Hello Perfectionist

When the cards are water-cooled they become silent, the black widow extreme is a very quite system.

We use the 120mm Scythe Gentle Typhoon and a Aquaero fan controller and are very happy with the performance. We also use anti vibration mounts on the pump to silence any noise.

All in all a water-cooled system will be much quieter than a air-cooled system when under load!

Feel free to fire anymore questions across

    Regards

they take off the heatsink, fan etc so there wouldn't be a benefit to useing a card like a vapor-x on a water cooled system, in fact a water block might not actually fit if the card isn't referance.
