Hard disk has developed a fault

Hi. I bought my 3XS PC in March, complete with two new 500GB Samsung Spinpoint F1 drives - one of these now appears to have developed a fault.

I have run various drive and PC diagnostics and have been generally troubleshooting the problem to satisfy myself that this HDD is indeed the culprit and not some other hardware or software issue - I won't bore you with the details of all that right now but can supply further info as required. In short, the drive has been intermittently causing various programs to hang and produces a regular, double clicking noise every 2 seconds or so when this occurs. Fortunately I have not lost any data but this program hanging issue has been rather inconvenient and I no longer have faith in the reliability of this drive. I am now using the second HDD as my primary system drive with no problems at all (I cloned the entire contents of the faulty drive onto this 2nd HDD using True Image) and I have other storage devices of my own for data/backups etc. so there is no desperate urgency, the PC is perfectly OK for the time being with just one of the original drives.

My question is: how do I proceed from here? Presumably I will need to discuss this in more detail with a support person and/or return the drive to Scan for testing - who do I contact about this please?

    Thanks!

Re: Hard disk has developed a fault

Thanks for the link DarkStar, I appreciate your input.

After tracking down my Build and Invoice numbers I managed to login to that area but it's not very helpful when it comes to actually reporting a fault like this - just a link to "use our support link to log any online system query" which takes you right back to the starting login page (huh? What's all that about, then?). The only other option I found, in the Scan Shop area, was a link to report/request a Return... I'm not sure if that's relevant or the right route to follow in this instance as this is not an individual item bought from the shop.

I just thought an online report or email would do for this query but I can't actually find where to do this! Oh well, it's no biggie - if I get no answers here then I'll try the telephone support number.

Re: Hard disk has developed a fault

Thanks Ganty, I think I'll try that!

Edited later to say: email now sent! ...no need for Scan staff to reply here if my email has been received and/or acted on.
