Hi, the 3XS system I am thinking of has a Corsair 800D case with Rampage II Extreme mobo, was looking at the tech specs and noticed it does have mic and headphone ports, like my previous PC's Antec 1200 case.
Previously I had a Creative X-Fi Titanium sound card, and thinking of going for that again: I researched the supremefx x-fi sound pseudo-card ("riser card") that comes as a sticking out part of the board and it doesn't seem to be rated very highly as it actually does the processing through software?
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...8908_10_0.htmlI do not know how true this is, this is one of the few mentions on the internet I can find of "supremefx x-fi" that isn't selling it, it seems to not be very widely usedThe sound chip behind it is NOT a creative X-Fi audio processor at all. It's rather an Analog Device AD2000B. The X-Fi in the SupremeFX-Fi they mention is rather the X-Fi software that's included that enables certain "X-Fi features" such as: CMSS, Crystalizer and as well support for EAX 1,2,3 and 4. Exactly as what Creative have done with X-Fi Extreme Audio product, which is also not equipped with the X-Fi APU but using X-Fi software to brand it "X-Fi". Since it's not a real X-Fi audio processor, you can understand there is no hardware acceleration for games. The SupremeFX-Fi software included only let you uses "Entertainment mode". Where the real X-Fi boards has access to other modes, such like Gamer mode.
- If I did buy a standalone Creative X-fi Titanium card and had the supremefx bit removed, is it possible to route the mic and headphone jack of the sound card to the front 800D case's jacks so they aren't wasted? Or would they work anyway from the motherboard to the case? No idea on this one, my previous PC from Overclockers I had to fumble around at the back everytime I wanted to connect/disconnect my headphones, but I imagine there must be some kind of way to to do this with internal cables or through the motherboard to case
Thanks for any
