    Virus on harddrive

    By formatting the hard disk can we remove complete virus from the system some of my friend told that it can not be removed.

    Depends on the virus. The use to be boot sector virus's years ago that involved a full low level format to fix but i've not seen one of those in years as most boards now have features in place to block them.

    In 99.9% of all cases the best resolve for a virus infestation is to format it.

    Hi

    In Windows 7 you can use the Diskmanagement tool to extend a Partition and therefore make it back into one, I have done this on a test rig here and it worked fine even on the C drive which is in use

    Formatting doesnt always get rid of a virus if its a Boot sector Virus you are best deleting the Partition
