Video editing and graphic design PC - your options are lacking

    Hi Scan

I've been a fan of yours for some time and thought I would point this out...

I'm looking to spend about £1600 on a PC to run Adobe Master Collection CS4, doing video and animation with Premiere Pro and After Effects, and some print design work with InDesign and so on.

If I go to your 3XS site and click on Video Editing, I get one PC and a table of editing options including Premiere Pro 2.0, which has been superceded at least twice. If I click compare these systems under "torque" I get a page listing nothing. And at the top it says 02.01.90 - is that meant to be a date?

Simply put, I'm afraid I can't take you seriously if you're listing one PC, admittedly from this month, against such old software. If you hadn't updated that PC in the last month I'd think you'd forgotten to check your sites links in the last 2 years. So I'll be shopping elsewhere, unless you can spec me a PC with a lot of power for video encoding, graphics card that helps with Adobe encoding, a solid state startup drive, and the capability for a RAID 0 array to run media caching and so on, for about £1600. I'm looking at some from Mesh at the moment.

    Hope you can help

    Matt

    Thank you for the feedback.

I can see what you mean in terms of the advertised Editing options, they are out of date and will be updated shortly. I can assure you that SCAN can build a PC to meet your requirements and the available hardware options listed via the Configure link are up to date.

We are working on a suitable specification and will send a quotation through to you shortly.

Please PM me with your contact details.

    Best Regards

    Hi Matt,

If you take a look at the configurable options that are available for the 3XS Slipstream Editing system it is possible to configure a system that will fit in around your budget of £1600. I have configured a system based around your requirements, the only option I have omitted is the Operating System as I'm unsure what you would prefer.

Regarding the editing options I can assure you that Premiere 2.0 is not a configurable option as we currently have it listed with CS4 versions of the software.

    Total
£1,600.75 Excluding your choice of Operating System.

Obviously there are some options in there you may need to change but it is possible to order a high end video editing system for around £1600

As you can see I opted for a 128GB Extreme SSD and 2 x 500GB HDDs that can be configured as raid 0 should you choose to do so. The other option you may choose to change at your discretion would be the VGA card.

I'll arrange for the older images and text for Premiere to be removed to save any confusion.

    Regards,

    Pete
