    D-Link Wireless Adapter issue

    hello,

I purchased a 3XS system (along with peripherals, monitor etc...) back in July 2007. With it, I received a D-Link G132 wireless USB adapter. It came installed with Vista.

However, since day 1 I've had issues with the adapter. It occassionally disconnects from the network during use (and attempting to search for the network again brings up no results); and when I first start up the system, 50% of the time the system will not be connected to the network and I would not be able to find the network (or any other one) using Windows. To resolve these issues, I would have to remove, and then connect the adapter again. It would then work fine until after a restart or something.

I've had it swapped during the 2-year warranty of the system, as it was believed to be a hardware fault. When Scan received it, they confirmed it was faulty. The second one which I have here however is exactly the same. I was told it could be a software incompatibility, in which case there would be nothing Scan could do. However, D-Link have released official drivers for Vista 64 and 32, so I would assume Vista is supported by this product.

What are my options in terms of returning the product now that the warranty has expired? In case it is a simple case of being incompatible with Vista, then it should be returned anyway shouldn't it, as the system came with Vista (ie, it's not something I later upgraded to)?

    Thanks,

    Odai.

Due to the length you have had the item, over 2 years, we wouldnt be able to offer to change this to a different model.

Also as it is out of the 2 year warranty we wouldnt be able to raise an RMA number for you.

The best option I can suggest would be to purchase a new card / adapter which of course if over the £20.00 + VAT amount would give you free carriage.

    Regards,

    Re: D-Link Wireless Adapter issue

    Hi AD-15

I have been using the exact model at home since I Started using Vista 64 many moons ago and have now moved to Windows 7 64 bit using the same versatile device as it works in windows 7 64 Bit with the Vista 64 Drivers absolutely fine ...

So its not an incompatibility issue unless its something else that has been installed thats conflicting with it....

I suggest you add an internal Wifi card with maybe a range booster as it does seem like its possibly a bad signal for your wifi, if you want to opt for an internal Wifi card I would recommend the Dlink LN 16417 - This card with the correct drivers off the Dlink site is excellent value for money and performance.

    Regards

    Ben
