    i5 Temps on Overclocking

    Hi All,

    Just looking for some advice.

Got my nice new 3xs system, and finally finished installing all of the software and stuff, and have it running like a dream.

    Tried the O/C profile

The only thing thats slightly worrying me, is that on the O/C profile that gets it to 3.8 Ghz - the idle temp is 60 Deg, and under load this is reaching over 72 Deg's. Vcore has been set to 1.32v during the build.

I thought the max temp for i5 was around 70?? Dont want my nice new pc to burst into flames - so any soothing words gratefully received!

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Alex,

Thats fine, the CPU will only start to throttle at 100 degrees, plenty of head room

    Enjoy your rig

    Cheers

My scan i5 750 @ 3.8ghz shows idle temps of 33 deg tops for each core in CoreTemp... how is yours twice as hot at idle? surely cooling can't cause THAT much difference...?

Am I reading the temps wrong?

Well all chips are different, which can result in different temps and different voltages for overclocking. Load temps of 72C are no issue really.

    Re: i5 Temps on Overclocking

Idle temps of 60c !? Thats way too High.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Argh didnt see that just the load temps,

Alex can you email me your invoice number please philipp@scan.co.uk.

Do you have the system some place warm i.e. up against a radiator?

The load temps are fine however.

    Thanks

    Re: i5 Temps on Overclocking

Hi all, sorry for being soooo late back to this thread, mass effect 2 is just too time consuming!

Anyway - must have been windows 7 doing stuff in background after install as now that everything set up, installed and been running for days, idles now around 38, and load doesn't get above 65 when playing my silly little games.

    I'm happy

thank to all for taking time to post, just have to finish mass effect before bioshock 2.....

  9. Received thanks from:
