    Timescales?

    Hello.

I placed my order for a custom machine (00E1494799) on Friday 3rd, got email acknowledgments of the order and that payment details were OK, then got a mail from the 3XS guys that the order had been passed onto them, they were checking availability of components, etc, and that it could take up to 14 working days for delivery. All on the day of my ordering, which is great

What I'd like to know now is how long can I expect before I get the call to confirm details about the specification, etc? I'm not saying this to hurry anyone along, just curious. And, to not put too fine a point on it, a little exciting about getting my new computer

    Thanks.

    Hi Winterlove

The system invoice is being checked and Phil will arrange a built date for you as soon as we have confirmation that all the components are in stock, if there are any components that will prevent the build starting we will contact you and confirm a suitable alternate

    Regards

    Ben

    Re: Timescales?

Hello. I originally had a build date of 22nd. On the 22nd I received an email that my build date had been pushed back to 27th (today) - which is fine, good to have notification that there was a delay on the day itself. However, it is now late on 27th, and my order is still in the awaiting parts status. Can I have an update, please?

    Thumbs up Re: Timescales?

    Winterlove

Fear not, ordered mine on the 2nd and they just started building today. In a way I was glad they are very busy as it shows a healthy company, as my track record with PC firms is not good(in 12 years 3 out of the 4 firms I used have gone belly up). Well the 3rd did not fold compleatly as they closed down one day and opened up under another name the next day.

    Re: Timescales?

Indeed. I notice mine has now entered memory test stage. I'm a bit excited

I self-built two of the last four computers I ordered (including this one), and even the other non-self-build was a closely-defined custom job. I decided to not to self-build this one because, frankly, the amount of money I was spending on parts gave me the willies about screwing up a self-build, so getting someone else who (a) knew what they were doing and (b) would foot the bill if screw-ups happened was *really* appealing. Also, I've bought bits from Scan before and had good service.

    Winterlove

Any news on yours yet, mine should have been despatched on the 30/9 but got an e-mail friday evening telling me they had not finished QC. I found that a bit strange as the builder tracker has been on number 8 since friday which means QC should have been finished and the machine was built as they had published all the testing data for me to read. As of now it is still at stage 8 and I have not heard from them yet as to if it will be sent today.

    John

    Update
Just got an e-mail now saying it has failed its memory test and "might" be ready tomorrow. As far as I am concerned thats it. I ordered this on the 2nd Sept and five weeks (23 working days) later it's still not ready . First build date 22/9/10
Second build date 27/9/10 for despatch on the 30th. First thing in the morning Scan are getting a phone call and depending on the answers I might just take my custom elsewhere.

Amen brother, I'd say they need some seriously 'hard' loving

My 'mammary' test has been on the go for about 5 days now. BTW, I'll be joining you tomorrow

Pity the fools who order up for a crimbo build, LOL................

    Re: Timescales?

Well my wife rang while I was picking up the car (she holds her temper a lot better than I can) which is just as well as if i had been on the phone and heard the famous customer service reply "it will be out today" the person on the other end would have learned a couple of new expletives. Anyway he has promised they will ring back but if other threads are any thing to go by that will be another fairy story.

I am not a stupid person (i'm physically not mentally defective) and it appears to me that all the customers who took Scans word about being very busy and sat back without complaining about the delays have been pushed futher back to allow Scan to build machines for people who are constantly on their backs about delivery dates. I would be very interested if finding out how many of you ordered after the 2/9/10 and are reading this post on their new machines

    Re: Timescales?

Well I ordered a 3XS system on Friday 23rd September, I also used V12 Finance which was approved and Scan were advised by V12 on 27th that they could proceed. I factored in 3 weeks for the build allowing for any mishaps.

Well as of today and after numerous emails I'm still waiting for a build number and some idea of a delivery date, Scan have my deposit of over £400.00.

To say the delivery is urgent would be an understatement as my whole career choice is hinging on getting my work done on my new system. I know that may sound a bit dramatic but the fact the non delivery of my system will no be accepted as an excuse by the admission department of my University.

Reading all the other posts is worrying me beyond measure now.

    Re: Timescales?

Current status of mine is this: Late afternoon Friday 1st October I got an email saying that it was in QC and some engineers were staying back to finish it, if they could. If I didn't hear anything by the end of Friday I should assume that they didn't manage to finish QC (I sent an email conveying my appreciation for their willingness to put in extra hours - courtesy is rarely a bad idea, after all). I didn't hear anything else on Friday.

Yesterday (4th Oct) I got an email saying that my build's memory had failed during QC, meaning it had to be replaced and (I assume) a new QC cycle started. They said they hoped for it to go into despatch tomorrow (6th Oct). We shall see. Interesting that the reason cited was the same as B.E.A.N.'s.

As for the order progress tracker ... well, it has been stuck at stage "memory test" (ironic) for ages now.

    Re: Timescales?

They must have a standard e-mail format as word for word friday and yeasterday is what they sent me as well. Must have been a very busy friday night!!!!
Well they have one more hour to ring me with the truth about whats going on or I am cancelling(I surpose they will make me wait the full 30 days they are intitled to before refunding all my money)

    Re: Timescales?

    Guys,

It is with great regret that you have had to encounter an unforeseeable delay of your systems. We really do try our best to keep our customers happy and keep delays to a minimum.

System sales have gone really well over the last couple of months, however due to the amount of extra systems ordered we’ve needed to employ a further 6 staff to help maintain a steady workflow. Even though we have employed new 3XS Systems Engineers it takes a little while to train them to our usual 3XS Standards.

As I’m sure you’re aware 3XS Systems go through some of the most rigorous testing available. We could quite easily bypass this testing procedure to get systems out to our customers on the expected despatch date but we would much rather make sure the systems are thoroughly tested to help make sure our customers are happy with their 3XS Systems.

Our guys are putting in extra hours to help clear the backlog. We are doing are very upmost to get back on track.

    Kind Regards,

    Pete

    Re: Timescales?

Had a phone call from Philip explaining the problems and that my machine was in QC and if that passes it will be despatched tonight. He gave me the choice of their own couriers to be delivered in a few days or delivered tomorrow by normal courier so have stayed with their own courier (much less chance of it being damaged that way) plus the fact that I already paid for their courier to unpack and connect the pc avoids DOA which I have had in the past from another firm

    Re: Timescales?

B.E.A.N., I've requested a similar call to let me know what the precise status is. I didn't request unpacking and connection, I'm beginning to think maybe I should have. Oh well.
