    Question Upgrading

I am waiting delivery on an Intel qx9650 CPU.

I currently have an Asus P5KPL SE motherboard [DDR2 Slots] and 4GB [2x2GB] Corsair Memory 800mhz.

One of your kind staff informed me yesterday at the GTX580 launch that my memory may slow me down.

So for Christmas I am thinking of treating myself to a new motherboard and RAM.
    [I'm kind aren't I ;') ]

So does anyone know any good motherboards [LGA775] and compatible memory [DDR3] I could use with this CPU ?
My spending limit is around £150 as I'm only a college student

    Thanks guys

Even if you don't overclock the RAM you would be hitting 3.6GHZ!

TBH,I would invest in a decent heatsink and not spend any more money on a new motherboard and RAM. If you really need a new motherboard get a P43 based one for around £50 to £60 and re-use your DDR2. DDR3 is not going to make much difference with socket 775 processors.

Socket 775 is EOL and even socket 1156 which replaced it is soon to be EOL.

    Edit!!

Just realised you don't want to overclock. In that case don't get a new motherboard or RAM as you are throwing away your money IMHO.

I would just use the money for a new graphics card when you require one.

    Re: Upgrading

    Thanks for the advice
Well I have an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev2 and an xfx GTX 260 Black Edition gfx card, so I don't think I have to upgrade them.

I do however have a Plantronics gamecom 377 headset. It is good but uncormfortable after a short while and really uncomfortable after an hour or two, do you have any suggestions for headsets usb or 2x3.5mm jacks ?

I was pondering whether to buy the Creative SoundBlaster Arena or Corsair HS1's .....

    Thanks again

p.s how do i thank you ? As in thanking someone on a post ? plus how do i get an avatar ? Thanks again .... again

    Re: Upgrading

Also I'm looking for sound and comfort, not one or the other, I've read reviews and these are pretty similarly rated so I'd like to hear the opinions of owners who use them constantly, that way you get a rating that spans usage

    Thank You
