    Potential new Customer

    Hi guys ,

I called up Scan customer support yesterday and had a good discussion with a very knowledgable support/sales guy named Lee. I am very much interested in having a PC build within the next couple of months. I am a little hesitant in regards to the whether having the build done on my own or havé it built by one of you guys. The hesitancy is mainly becoz I have never built a PC before so I am inclined in taking that learning curve and feel the thrill. Either ways, I know I am going to own a new gaming rig before the end of this year. Suggestions and advice are welcome.

I shall also be updating this post with my potential configuration soon.

    Thanks,
    Nikhil

You normally only find complaints in forums anyway, well in terms of service, parts etc. Scan sell thousands of items everyday, you will find that not many people will stop and praise something that has been received and working yet many will complain when something isn't working or things aren't happening the way they should.

To be honest I wouldnt base your opinions on what others have written, each person has written there forum posts on here for there own reasons, in my opinion just order it from Scan, if you get any problems then you know for next time.

    Regards
    Jon

    Re: Potential new Customer

    Hi nhanda,

Have a look at my post under "3XS-my experience" in this forum and also "Routine maintenance" in the 3XS After Sales Support forum.

To further add to my after sales experience, the day after I picked up my pc after the GPU had been watercooled a fault developed....the monitor(s) would suddenly go blank and default to standby mode. I checked/reseated the monitor cable(s) etc but to no avail so I emailed system support. I got a phone call from Ben and after going through the problem with him he was as mystified as me. He arranged for the pc to be collected by Netsolve the following day !!! How's that for speedy service.

A few days later I got a pm from Rob....he had worked the problem through and discovered it was a faulty slot on the motherboard. Not only has that been replaced but he has also fitted an upgraded GPU (EVGA GTX 580 SC). The system is now on test for each of the 3 profiles ( 1 standard and 2 overclocks). Again, great service.

As has been said, people are only to ready to post/complain when they have a problem, but very few will post a "thank you" or praise.

Obviously, should you decide to order from Scan I cannot guarantee you wont have problems, but if you're prepared to wait maybe that little bit longer for the system to be built and you have the same experiences as I've had you wont go far wrong.

As far as I'm concerned Scan's customer service and after sales support are second to none.

    Regards,

    Dave

    Re: Potential new Customer

    Hi Guys

I agree that the most feedback on a forum is negative as there are not enough people that post good feedback and thank yous etc..

We have TheWord on our website and this is primarily where our customer feedback gets posted

    https://secure.scan.co.uk/aspnet/the...dback.aspx?T=1

We also have put this Hexus forum in place where we will in our own time monitor, answer questions etc so unless you can tell me otherwise I don't know of any other custom PC company that offers this extra service and it is a service that we don't get paid for we do it to support and look after our customers and for the passion we have regarding our systems

The measure of our service should also be from how we resolve issues, you will always get issues , some major some minor and we are here to help whenever we can

There has been a lot of negativity regarding our system deliveries by Netsolve and I would like to point out that Netsolve are not a courier service they are all fully trained onsite engineers, they do not have a fleet of vans around the country like DPD or City-link and deliveries can take longer as a result, I am working with Netsolve to improve this service and there will always be the odd occasion where depending on location they cant meet the 2-3 day delivery but the system will be delivered in full working order and if there are any issues they will endeavor to resolve these so that they leave you with a fully working system.

We use Netsolve in order to ensure your system gets to you without any damage as we have experienced major issues in the past using a standard courier service and we put this in place for you the customer

Please make your first point of contact through your initial query as this helps us track issues and contains all the relevant customer data that helps us resolve issues

Both our support lines have answer machines as well so if anyone leaves a message we will get back to you as quickly as we can, if you call and don't leave a message (a lot of people do) we have no way of getting back to you

I hope the above helps paint a clearer picture of our support and the changes we have made to our deliveries acting on feedback collected over the past few years from customers who have asked for a more reliable and safer way to get their valued 3XS System that they have just spent a lot of money on to them in a working condition

    Re: Potential new Customer

    Hi Ben, jonji and 747driver,

Honestly speaking, I too agree with the fact that ppl only post comments becoz they have issues. There would be many many more customers who would not be aware of the forums as they haven't faced any issues yet.
I got to know about Scan through a friend who highly recommended it, meaning it's got a good name in the forum.

My only concern is because i am about to spend approx 1.5-2K on a PC, I would want it to be perfect and would need the sense of reliability from the vendor(in this case scan) from whom I am purchasing.

My other point of worry or let's say skepticism is whether to have the PC build on my own or have it built from Scan engineers. Reason for skepticism on me doing it is becoz it's gonna be my first build. Not that I am scared coz nowdays there are plenty of guides and videos to have the PC built. Reason for wanting to build it on my own is excitement and the thrill of having to build it.

Anyways Ben, becoz I have heard all the good reviews, could you kindly have someone from Sales give me a call. I would like to analyse my options and get a quotation for the above mentioned build.

    Thanks,
    Nikhil
