First off, what is your actual budget?

Will this have to include everything? Even monitor, keyboard, mouse?

Re: Keep changing my mind new build

Once you get upto 20 relevant posts you can get free postage from Scan:

    http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-he...tup-guide.html

    Scan do offers every weekday:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly/index.aspx

If you don't mind Windows 8,I would take advantage of this offer:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/w...hopHP_FPP_Null

Download the Release Preview and install that:

    http://superuser.com/questions/49401...elease-preview

I would download it before the end of the year.

The build should come to around £580 from Scan, and around £605 with Windows 8.

This build is somewhat different and uses an FX6300 instead, and frees up enough budget to get an HD7870 Special Edition:

    http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/...roductId=53474

That should also come to around the same total price as the previous build. The HD7870 Special Edition is around GTX660TI or HD7950 level performance at 1920X1080(around 20% faster than a GTX660 or HD7870),although the FX6300 is slower overall than a Core i5 for running games.

Re: Keep changing my mind new build

thankyou for your help, i like the look at the I5 build. I will have to purchase windows, as i am a mac user, hence the requirement for a gaming PC. This is one of the reasons i think putting a pc together will benefit me.

Re: Keep changing my mind new build

Actually this case might do the job:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/BitFenix-Mer.../dp/B005JRICNG

Despite is low price it gets very good reviews, and IMHO I probably would get it over the Corsair myself.

BTW,the Core i5 build cannot be overclocked, but getting a Core i5 K series CPU and a Z77 motherboard would push you outside of your budget.

Have you got a gaming mouse??

If you go with the cheaper case, you can get a Logitech G400:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-G40...5605666&sr=1-1

It is a mouse for right handed people though.

With the cheap Windows 8 method,is that you first install the Windows Developer preview and then upgrade from that. It seems to have worked for me and a mate, and you can always add a 3rd party start menu if required,if you don't like the Start screen.

BTW,what Mac do you use?? AFAIK,an iMac can be used as a PC monitor.

    Edit!!

Another thought. If you go with cheaper peripherals, you might be able to get the HD7870 Special Edition into your £600 budget. However,I tend to like reasonable quality peripherals,so I suppose that depends on what you would prefer TBH!

i have a diablo 3 mouse which i use on the mac, my main mac is the iMac but would probably use TV for now. Just got some good games that just wont run on the iMac, witched 2, skyrim. i run diablo 3 on low settings no shadows, hence my frustration.

Re: Keep changing my mind new build

What you do is download the Developer preview and install that on your PC,but do the download before the end of the year. Then you start the purchase of the Windows 8 upgrade electronically from the PC. You will download the upgrade on the PC. You can upgrade directly or burn a disc with the upgrade on it.
