Thread: Samsung F3 faulty - who to send it to

    Samsung F3 faulty - who to send it to

    Hello there,

    Unfortunately one of my lovely Samsung F3s which I got from Scan in August is dying with bad blocks and sectors and ended up in a corrupt O/S

    I downloaded the latest ESTools suite from Samsung and ran the surface scan and tried a low level format. Both failed with Service Code AJ26 - Bad Sectors. Then it displayed a message (can't remember the exact wording) "Warning: This drive has defects. Back up your data and contact your local service center"

    On filling in the rma form I had a nice helpful email from a chap from Scan to inform me that after 28 days the Warranty is with Samsung (through a company called Rexo) and I should contact them. Fair enoughski!

    Anyway I contacted them, gave them the serial number and then they told me that the drive is from an outside region and that they couldn't help and I should contact my reseller! (Scan)

    So I'm confused what to do next as Scan are telling me to send it to Samsung and Samsung tell me it's an imported drive and they won't service it in the UK!

    You have the option of returning to SCAN, so we can return on your behalf. The reason it was suggest in a way of you contacting the manufacturer as this would be the quickest way of turning the RMA around.

    However as Samsung are telling you they won't service the drive, I have asked the Returns Manager to look into this,

    Hi Chris, thanks for the fast reply!

    I've used Rexo a couple of times before with no problem, but this time they just tell me it's outside the serviceable area. This is a screen of what I get from the samsung warranty checker, which I assume is the same one they use when checking if stuff is eligible to be serviced.

    As Chris' post in the above link suggests, do I need to fill out the form that is linked and send it back to Scan rather than Samsung? I'm hoping to get it sorted soon as I'm building up a PC for my sister for Xmas as a surprise to replace her ancient Pentium 3 machine O.o
